Absolutely amazing

At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

How many corpses count as a massacre? Never been quite sure of that. The film takes place (just in case you don't get it from the title) in a Drive-In. We didn't have drive-ins in Glasgow (we didn't even have electricity until 1987), but I'm fairly sure I would have enjoyed visiting these places. Anyway, Drive-in Massacre is aimed squarely at Drive-in audiences, ensuring it's immortality and safe in the knowledge that Drive-ins would be a permanent feature on the US landscape. This means that people (or more truthfully, tired old men like me) will sit down in front of their DVD player, watch this film's slight seventy-seven minutes, and then proceed to kick the television screen in.It's not a bad movie, per se, at least for the first half hour or so. There's a nifty decapitation and a neck piercing right at the start, and the quirky characters are a hoot, but this film is front loaded and there's an awful lot of padding tacked on to the last half hour. Plus, with that gip of an ending I can't help but thinking I'm only treating this film charitably because of nostalgia reasons. I'll begrudgingly give praise to the fact that there's nary a teenager in sight in this film. Both cops are fat has-beens, one suspect in a ex-circus geek, and another is Mr Johnston, the terminally bitter and angry manager of the drive-in who is the best thing about this film. He's so angry, he doesn't even care about people getting murdered. He gets angry about the cops interviewing him, and he gets angry about the cops interviewing the ex-geek turned cleaner, Germy. The cops try ineptly to catch the killer, of course. They set their sights on a voyeur, dress in drag (Johnston says to the cop the next day: "Say, do you have a sister?"), and then end up, for no reason at all, chasing George Buck Flower around a warehouse for ten minutes in a scene whose link to the rest of the movie is tenuous at best. At least it's better than the "Germy-walking-around-the-carnival-doing-nothing-for-ten-minutes" scene. Now that's major padding!I'll say no more about the film. I don't like to reveal too much about slasher film (unless the killer is revealed about two minutes in), but let me just say that Drive-in Massacre doesn't end too well. You'll be let down. Still, it's not long and isn't offensive. In Scotland it was out on Vipco (defunct) and 23rd Century (defunct). I got mine as part of the Mill Creek 50 Chilling Classics box set.

This film has a poor reputation . It's one that's probably deserved however due to its dire production values . Director Stu Segall seems to have no comprehension of fundamental film making techniques such as editing or cinematography . It's very difficult to hear what is being said or see what is going on . It also leads to confused scenes that seem to come out of nowhere like a machete wielding maniac stalking a young woman or the ending that will have you scratching your head wondering who the murderer is . I'm not sure if it's the fault of the director or the screenwriters but there seems to be an air of campness running throughout the film but never successfully manifests itself on screen . For example we get two detectives posing as a courting couple at a drive in and one of them wears a dress and wig but but the whole feel of the film is never less than serious and dead pan and any amusement found in it is purely unintentional . The lack of budget also means there's never any ring of truth to the storytelling . If someone is killing patrons at a drive in you'd expect to see the crime scene cordoned off with tape and uniformed cops standing guard . The lack of budget means we never see any uniformed cops because the budget never stretches that far . Indeed it doesn't even seem to stretch to including crime scene tape It's difficult to see who the film will appeal to . Die-hard gorehounds will be disappointed due to the lack of serious stomach churning gore while a mainstream audience will be put off by the terrible directing , writing and acting . The only reason DRIVE IN MASSACRE got two stars instead of one is because it's heaven made for one of those " 100 things I learned from this movie " threads such as You have to be overweight to be a detective and It's possible to chop off someone's head leaning out of a car without their passenger noticing

"Drive-In Massacre" tells the story of a serial killer who walks around a drive-in at night with a long sword killing teenagers. Sounds like a typical slasher flick, right? Wrong. The violence is not plentiful, but spread out through the movie between cheesy dialogue and horrible acting. This film is just so boring, I cannot believe I sat through the whole thing!! And it's only 74 minutes!! None of the characters in this film are likable, and you really can't wait for them to die. However, there are several entertaining scenes, such as one of the chubby male police officers dressing as a woman to disguise himself during a stake out! The script is just horrible and so is the picture and sound quality of the movie. There are also at least three scenes that last for five minutes that is nothing but a guy driving around a parking lot looking for a place to park!! Please, stay away from this one!!R for Violence and Brief NudityGrade: F

Right, what to say about the "Drive in Massacre". Well, lets start with bad acting, on which we can go to poor direction and from that we can jump right to terrible soundtrack and we can even lace the whole thing with poorly done script. And that's what I can say about the movie. This is one of those b-films which feel like they don't go anywhere, and this certainly something that is accurate about this one. There's some murders in the drive in, yet nothing is done with them even tough the film supposedly revolves around solving the case, yet it really didn't feel like it. And the film even managed to feel too long.So avoid, if you can. It really wasn't even funny in a purely bad way..
