Reviews
Stoutor It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.
BelSports This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Tobias Burrows It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
Juana what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
boblipton Mutt has been appointed the judge at a dog show. He persuades Jeff to dress in a dog costume and they will split the prize money. This Mutt & Jeff cartoon spends a lot of budget on some good backgrounding and compensates for the expense by a lot of cheating -- cyclical or repetitive action that is cheaper than in-betweening a new sequence. Notice the crowd of dogs in pursuit of Jeff; a short sequence of different dogs repeats several times, as does the motion of that old stand-by of the vaudeville stage, the Automatic Sausage Machine, which had first appeared in the movies thirty years earlier. There are also some good gags, including a Limburger gag. The best involves what happens to Mutt when he is pursuing the runaway dogs.
