Masterful Movie

a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

Working in the City myself I love Wall Street movies from the 80ies but didn't see this movie until recently. I had dismissed it because everybody was talking about WallStreet and I had never heard about Dealers, but this movie really surprised on the upside. Most movies about Wall Street are more IBD related but this is a great depicting of a sell side trader. This movie is great for everybody who loves sell side and the trading floor and want to dream away to the 80is. The feeling in the movie is similar to other great 80ies movies. What would have made this movie the perfect 80ies hit would be replacing the lead actor with Tom Cruise and a couple of RayBay Wayfarers.

First of all its a movie. Did I enjoy it yes. Unlike other reviews I think it does a decent job of giving you a feel of what was expected of you to maintain a trading job in a major investment bank of that time. In addition the world of finance (1970,80)was a high energy high stakes games of egos especially in the trading world where you are only as good as what have you done for me lately. Think of this, being a trader is a high profile job, you get paid a hefty salary but one catch ,(you must make money) making zero or losing 5 million is the same fate so without question one would always exit losing the 5 million not the zero to obtain the profit and the way of life (same fate) and besides not the traders money.Greed, egos all that is in that world no question about that it becomes an addiction.PS The Traders television series did also reflect the real trading world very well and I really enjoyed itOn Rebecca DeMornay it was one of her earlier films and if anything if you are a fan of hers, wants me to watch the movie even more. I think Paul McGann was excellent in the film.

INCLUDES ONE PLOT SPOILER!!Rebecca DeMornay (who wears plenty of tight suits and has killer legs) is brought in as the pricipal trader at a huge London based financial institution against the wishes of reckless Paul McGann to run a cautionary position after the bank takes a $100 Million Dollar loss.Flashy, well done movie is exciting and leaves viewers on the edge of its seats from start to finish and features a pulse-pounding ending. Rebecca DeMornay is excellent and also tantalizingly sexy. She and McGann make a very hot couple. McGann is also very good, and just about everybody else is perfectly casted. A really, really good movie that I liked slightly more then Wall Street. Only reason why this doesn't rate a 10- DeMornay has wild animal sex, but doesn't take off her bra. BUMMER!! My rating: 9 out of 10.Rated R for some brief profanity and of course wild animal sex.

Dealers is a boring, messy cliché of a film. It is yet another one of those films that portrays the world of finance as a high-energy, high stakes game of egos and questionable morality. In reality, playing with other people's money as recklessly as the people in this movie do will end in negligence lawsuits or bankruptcy (a la Barings Bank). On the cinematic front, this is not a good film. The script is poor and the acting isn't much better. Rebecca DeMornay is nice to look at but just isn't credible. This movie seems to have been made to cash in on the bull market mentality of the Eighties. There are generous doses of Oliver Stone's slightly-better Wall Street in this film, although it is closer in mentality to Top Gun than anything else.A complete waste of time.
