alexandriabenford This movie is pure comedy. A whole bunch of crazy adventures and hilarious characters surface as a guy explores the world outside of his home. It incorporates love, comedy and self-discovery and is a symbolic reminder to not allow yourself to remain trapped in society's bubble they create for you, but to explore, laugh, love and discover all that life has to offer.
Eddie Cantillo Bubble Boy(2001) Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal, Swoosie Kurtz, Marley Shelton, Danny Trejo, John Carroll Lynch, Vernie Troyer, Dave Sheridan, Brian George, Patrick Cranshaw, Stephen Spinella, Ever Carradine, Geoffrey Arend, Matthew McGrory, Bonnie Morgan, Stacy Keibler, and Zach Galifianakis Directed By: Blair Hayes Review LIFE IS AN ADVENTURE. DON'T BLOW IT. I saw a trailer for this film on the DVD of the last movie I rented and it looked like the stupidest thing ever. But then I rented it and when I watched it I was liking this isn't the Corneto trilogy but it's a pretty fun charming comedy. The film opens up with Jimmy saying he was born without an immune system. He felt happy in his bubbled up until a beautiful girl named Chloe moves next door. She would visit him everyday after school. On her birthday however she wanted Jimmy with her but he was stuck in his bubble. She ends up agreeing to marry her boyfriend Mark and when Jimmy sees the gift she made for him he decides to go too Niagara Falls and stop the wedding. Everything in the film itself is charming but not really all that funny. The acting is average to say the least it's like watching your best friend do some of the silliest things you know he usually wouldn't do. When I saw this the first time I actually thought to myself you know early 2000s comedy's are a little bit better than the newer ones. Danny Trjo was my favorite part in the film. I'm giving Bubble Boy a three and a half out five.
eichler2 As of this writing, this movie only has a 5.4 star average, which is a real shame. Bubble Boy is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen, one of the rare films where I literally laugh uncontrollably several times while watching it. The humor is very unique though (and as many others have pointed out, not particularly politically correct most of the time), so I can see why a lot of people would give it 1 star and say it wasn't funny. Humor is a very subjective thing. That said, those people are just flat out wrong - this is easily one of the best comedies I've come across. If you like farcical, offbeat humor, you need to see this movie.
blahblahblah12345 So I was expecting for me to think this was the dumbest movie ever, but I was pleasantly surprised with how entertained I was. While incredibly ridiculous and unbelievable, it was pretty funny and interesting. Jake Gyllenhaal was slightly miscast in my opinion, but still delivered a quirky and charming performance as the "Bubble boy". Really, all the supporting characters were hilarious as well. Perhaps some of the humor is a bit too "out there" for everyone, but I think some people will appreciate the film's creativity and originality. While still following the rom-com formula, this movie is still a step above and a breath of fresh air.
