alexanderdavies-99382 It made sense to make a feature movie of "Batman" to cash in on the huge success of the television show. I still have memories of seeing the film back in the early 1980s. What times! This Batman movie needed a lot more money spent on it than just $1,600,000. The film plays more like an extended television episode on account of the plot being a bit thin. The pluses outnumber the minuses though. The gallery of supervillains is brilliant. If you are going to include any villains, it must be the Joker, the Penguin, the Catwoman and the Riddler. Lee Meriwether is a good Catwoman but she isn't in the same league as Julie Newmar. I've no idea why she wasn't in the film. Adam West stated in an interview many years later that he was rather reluctant in making the film. The reason he gave, was that he was becoming exhausted with the gruelling schedule of the television show. I'm glad he did though, otherwise the film wouldn't have been the same. That also applies to Burt Ward. There is plenty in the way of laughs and action. My favourite fight scenes, are the ones where Bruce Wayne fights his way out of captivity and when Batman and Robin take on all the villains onboard the submarine. Great fun!

Hitchcoc For those of us who were there for the first Batman TV episode, this is the logical conclusion. For the disappointed fanboys, you eventually got your movies. This is silly fun with Adam West and Burt Ward just doing their thing. It's comedy. It's situational mayhem. It's funny lines and preachiness. There is not much plot, nor should there be. Batman was genuinely funny and full of sight gags. The villains were not the psychotic beings they are in the newer versions. Batman has a paunch and Robin is clueless. They manage to throw the whole works into the fray and the result is just what they wanted--a totally non-serious bunch of confrontations that ultimately save the world.

SnoopyStyle Commodore Schmidlapp is transporting a dehydrator to Gotham on a yacht. Batman and Robin on the Batcopter come to the rescue but the yacht had disappeared. Batman fights off an exploding shark. The Joker, Penguin, Riddler and Catwoman have joined to form the United Underworld. The Commodore is clueless to his own kidnapping. The villains use the dehydrator to kill and threaten the world. The Cape Crusader has the Batboat while the Penguin has his submarine.This is purely silly camp from the 60s TV series. None of it can be taken seriously. It's almost a spoof. It's quite fun for awhile. However, it feels over-extended like a joke that runs on too long. I've never seen a whole episode of the old TV show. I've got a feeling that it's a fun half hour for kids. I feel the same about this movie except it doesn't end after thirty minutes. The silliness wears thin and stops being that fun. The TV cast is legendary. The exploding shark sets the tone. This definitely has a place in the pantheon of Batman movies.

Which leads to the Dynamic duo on a wild chase and we learn more behind their team up laterThis film according to some was going to be the pilot for the TV series to follow however it just turn out to be otherwise differentWhile the TV series when you look back on it "That's the 60s for you" many love it for nostalgia which is in our nature to have a love for the classics This movie is actually pretty fun to watch I am a Batman fan and it is really good to enjoy and one of my favorite films of BatmanThe plot for the film is very good and it keeps your interest there is some creative acting and you can't help but enjoy the cast's work what I think makes the movie a winner is the one liners and this movie is full of them some of the best ones to ever come from any movieWhile it is cheesy at some points I still consider this a fun movieI give Batman:The Movie an 7 out of 10
