Reviews
Grimossfer Clever and entertaining enough to recommend even to members of the 1%
Teddie Blake The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
Myron Clemons A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.
Staci Frederick Blistering performances.
Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) "Batman Legends" is a 4-minute short film from 2006, so it has its 10th anniversary this year. The writer and director is Aaron Schoenke who has made a name for himself with his Batman fan-made film in the last decade. But this one here is possibly his worst effort so far. A whole lot happens in here, but it's one spectacular scene after the next. There is no character elaboration, no story really and the conflict between Batman and Superman feels ridiculously rushed in. Is there anything positive about this one? Maybe that it is over fairly quickly. Or that Schoenke was in his early 20s when he made it which is a bit of a mitigating factor I guess. I would not recommend this one here though, not even to the biggest Batman fans. There is nothing in here that is remotely good or memorable. At least Schoenke improved afterward, even if that was not difficult judging from this little film's quality. Stay far far away.
chrichtonsworld "Batman Legends" is a short movie/trailer that shows how Batman should be! I did not read many Batman comics, but enough to know that the Batman from the movies (with exception from "Batman Begins") isn't the same as in the comics! For some that doesn't matter since those movies contain a lot of adventure and action to keep most viewers happy! But I always wondered why Hollywood had to change the stories and the personalities from the comics! They are far more exciting and interesting than Hollywood has managed to produce! So here come these fan made short movies that actually stick to the core of the wonderful comics! What isn't there to like! Within four minutes you get to see how it would look on the screen if they made Batman like he is meant to be! The only problem I had that it was too short! I hope that these fans will get more money and resources! They certainly deserve it! (You can check this on You tube! When you do also watch Batman Dead End!)
longi-2 This is a really good batman film/trailer. It doesn't have an actual plot line though, instead uses parts from other Aaron shashoke movies, a lot of which are based on the comics. one example would be knight fall and at the end we see bane(the best live action bane i've ever seen, he's very close to his comic counterpart) breaking batman's spine. also the explosion in arkham asylum. one of my favorites is the killing joke flash backs, including jack Napier falling into a vat of acid, taking off his "red hood" and revealing a chemical burned face (it looked creepy). a cool one though, is batman in his original "bat-eared" suit from detective comics #27. last but not least, the scene from patient j where he kills Jason Todd. this is an excellent movie and i highly recommend it. (it's got superman in it!!!!) if you want to watch it, its on youtube.com. enjoy!
