Curapedi I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
Deanna There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
abdullah kesgin When ı heard miss Kuriyama has won the MTV award a few years ago ı was so happy because she has some Allah given talent. But the award was surprisingly categorised "the best fight". Honestly there are better fights in films. Yes she is an awesome fighter but her character role playing is better then her fighting. She is nearly the number one evil girl character to me.And miss Ueto had given a stunning performance in the first film displaying a strong hearted young woman. But somehow in this film she is weaker (ı mean Azumi) fight scenes are less convincing.Overall this is a successful Japanese film to watch with family. The best of it is "love" is given without sex scenes. That makes the audience spectrum larger.
andrej-zupanic Azumi 2: Death or Love starts exactly where the first film has ended. Therefore you cannot look on it as a single film, but as part of the first one, because it finishes the story that started in the first film, directed by Kitamura, who did a really good job.But this film is not directed by Kitamura and that is a very big shame, because he could make this movie even better than it really was. Maybe also better than the first part. The actors are doing their best on the screen and some battle scenes are worth seeing, but many of them lack the real choreography that we were able to see in the first Azumi. Mayn of the fight scenes also look very odd and are really missing Kitamura's touch.Although the battle scenes are not as good as in the original, the story on the other hand gets much deeper. The main character suffers and also the enemy is stronger. It is quite well seen that this film was built more on a emotional level than on action. But still, it shouldn't be lacking on the action, because it is an action adventure.CGI is used only in scenes that were impossible to make, like the scene with the boomerang weapon. So the usage of CGI is the same as in the original, but it has evolved. It looks more realistic than in the first film. But thank good it isn't used almost the whole time like in many Hollywood films, which depend on the CGI and not on the story.Azumi 2 is not a perfect film, but it is worth seeing, although the taste after seeing it is kind of a bittersweet, because it really is not on the same level as part one. But I need to remind you all that there are very little sequels that are equal to the original or even better. But all in all, it is still a lot better than any sequel made in Hollywood, because these kind of films still have their heart and soul, while many from Hollywood are created only for one purpose, to make more money. In other words, the soul is sold to the devil. This is Azumi 2, a great tale of a girl, who wants to bring peace to the people of Japan by killing all the lords who want war. It is an epic story that you will like it, but not as much as the first Azumi. I advise you only that you forget the fact that it is not as good as the original and let yourself into a entertaining almost two hour long ride. This film could have get a nine out of ten, but I rated it eight, because of the not convincing fight scenes and because it sometimes lacks in the story's tempo and you can get bored, but just for a few seconds.
gandalf_a_1999 A great looking girl as a killer assassin, my type of movie, a superb follow up to the first. The first I gave a 10 as it developed more of the rather small storyline (take out the 3 warlords to prevent war. This movie continues the last part of the mission: search and destroy Sanada.A surprise is the bandit Ginkaku (a lookalike Nachi from the first movie) played by the same person as he had such a small role in the first movie, whom Azumi feels instantly attracted to.Azumi is as inhumanly fast and deadly as in the first movie, very few foes lasting a second or two before you see the blood spurting or body parts flying. I would say shes like a blur but that credit goes to Kunio.A large flaw I found was the lack of guards around Tenkai which was laughable, the only reason I can see for this is Sanada had his forces around him isolating him from his troops which makes no sense. Surely at all times there would be a large guard around someone of his importance, even if they weren't expecting an attack, comeon. Though of course some nice action sequences would need to be changed. As has been said, watching this before the first will leave you lost, though you can watch it purely for the action sequences. I had to rewind a few scenes to follow the killing spree. This movie kills so many action movies, with a few lengthy boss fights throughout the movie, not just waiting for the last fight.Thoroughly entertaining.
Slack_Vity Simply put : This film is excellent. I loved it! This had to be made because it completes well the story of the first Azumi and extends the pleasure of viewing it. This is one of the most attractive adventures I've ever been part by watching it. But, maybe this one's good but it's nothing compare to the first which was 10 time as good as this one. But nevertheless for anyone who've seen the first need to see this sequel. The director puts a lot of heart-wrenching scenes which were in my opinion useless. They kill too much characters just to put tears in your eyes I guess. However, I loved Chiaki Kuriyama in her role as Kozue, she's very good but she's cursed to play bad-ass girls for the rest of her life. Azumi's still a pretty on the outside but cruel on the inside young girl who just wants to finish her mission so she can escape to another place. I really think Aya Ueto was the perfect choice for Azumi, no girl on this planet is the same as her and they cannot replace her because she's unique in her talent and in the impression she gives to the viewer.I give 7.4 to this film. It's an excellent completion to this epic even though I would like a Azumi 3 to come out in the next few years.
