An Exercise In Nonsense

Admirable film.

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

The captivating and hypnotizing A Perfect Circle lay down a great show. The sound is absolutely top-notch, the song choice interesting and fun (with a lot of covers) and the band plays brilliant. The camera switching is a bit too fast for my liking and I'm not a fan of post-production effects (split screens etc) but luckily this is kept to a minimum. Singer Maynard is filmed as a part of the band, not as a front-man. He also stands at the back of the stage with hardly any lights, exactly how he (I assume) would like it to be. That makes the viewing a bit strange compared to a regular band. But A Perfect Circle is no ordinary band and they definitely positively demonstrate this during this fantastic live performance.
