PiraBit if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
Billy Ollie Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
wendyh65 I discovered this program part-way through the series, and wish I had seen it from the beginning. It is excellent and I look forward to a new episode each week. The blurb from TVNZ's web site for the program is almost exactly the same as the description here on IMDb, so I won't attempt to improve on it here. :-)The children have just reached the South Island in the episode I'm watching as I type. As well as assisting with the birth of a child to an immigrant Italian couple, Tama has encountered his tribe, but not everyone is happy to see the escaped slave return and he must re-establish his mana.Being interested in the history of European settlement of New Zealand (even before I started tracing my family's past) and other aspects of the country's past, I was interested to see how the production treated details, and have been impressed with the results. Everything, to my eye, is believable for the time period. The clothing, buildings, mud in the streets of towns, and so on. I can't speak to the authenticity of the Maori culture displayed, but it appears to be well-researched.If you have an interest in things New Zealand, and have the opportunity to see this series, I thoroughly recommend it.
