Interesteg What makes it different from others?
Merolliv I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.
Bergorks If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.
Hayleigh Joseph This is ultimately a movie about the very bad things that can happen when we don't address our unease, when we just try to brush it off, whether that's to fit in or to preserve our self-image.
gfcbarracker This is a very interesting show, I had no idea what it was when my new mates took me to the studio audience in 1995. Sammy Newman and Eddie McGuire keep the footy fan very well entertained. There are several jokes, some crude that would be edited from USA television. Sam is very controversial with his method, he does a very good job making fun of South Australians, naming Adelaide as Moron City. Trevor Marmalade is very funny. I would like to see his stand up act sometime. The show flows well, with interviews of players, coaches and the panel each week. The Footy Show is the first to provide the league teams each week and Eddie provides commentary on the ins and outs and his tip for the game. Sam and the three members of the panel then give a tip. Jeremy Kewley is very good as audience warm up and floor director. Since 1995, I have been to the Footy Show five times and have each of these episodes on VHS video tape at home. The first time I was there, Eddie and Sam spoke to me on camera, then I found out that the Footy Show is the number one rated television program in all of Australia. Who would ever think that, a show about Australian Rules Football. In the early days of the program, there was a five, yes five year waiting list to get tickets for the studio audience. Since 1999, the studio audience capacity has been increased. I have inquired with channel 9 Melbourne about when the Footy Show will be available on television in the USA. Now it is July 2007, and we have no footy available on television here in America, except for some obscure Irish sports channel maybe on satellite. Therefore we still don't have the Footy Show, no AFL games on television here in America that the general public can view. The AFL and Andrew Demetriou need to wake up and market the game internationally. American dollars are waiting to line Australian pockets with the general loss of interest in baseball since the 1994 strike. I want my footy, NOW!
freckletonfive Anyone watching that does not live in Victoria shouldn't be recommended to watch this show. Collingwood based as well. They have some funny segments like You Idiot and Almost Footy Legends. They have guests and talk about past and future football matches.
polyestagirl The Footy Show is a vital part of the Australian Rules Football world. By far the most popular show of it's genre for 9 years, despite for the first 8 seasons they were unable to show any actual football vision due to a rival station owning the rights, the Footy Show is must-see viewing for anyone with an interest in the great game - whether it's to learn the latest news, check out that weekend's team line-ups or laugh at/be irritated by Sam Newman's latest antics. It is also interesting to note that even though Channel 9 now own the rights to the football, the Footy Show still remains true to their tried-and-tested format. The show, hosted by Eddie McGuire and Sam Newman, with comedian Trevor Marmalade over by the bar providing the gags, also features a panel of 3 players (either current like Glenn Manton, Nathan Buckley, Shane Crawford or Peter 'Spider' Everitt or past players like Gary Lyon, Billy Brownless or Brendan Gale) who give their insights, opinions and tips for the week.Punctuated by segments such as "Sam's Mailbag", "Street Talk", "Almost Football Legends" and the recent introduction - "You Idiot", gives viewers a chance to contribute in various ways (many unintentionally) and also have an opportunity to bag Sam in some way.The Footy Show has never lost it's timeslot despite other stations throwing a myriad of shows up against it. Being completely live combined with the unpredictability of Sam and the gang means anything can happen and often does!Whether it informs, amuses, entertains, irritates or offends you - The Footy Show remains the number 1 AFL program in Australia with a successful spin-off - The Sunday Footy Show - hosted by Gary Lyon.
