Skunkyrate Gripping story with well-crafted characters
    Solidrariol Am I Missing Something?
Dirtylogy It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
Lidia Draper Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
henrypaulmerklein The Character don't come close to reaching their depth and development in the 2007 series, But Tartakovsky's animation more than makes up for it.
Helio Copter It may not be saying much to proclaim Clone Wars as the best thing from the prequel-era of Star Wars storytelling--1999 to 2014--but this show is worth recommending as a superior alternative to the live-action films, albeit a very fleeting one. This is much closer to what classic Star Wars was in the beginning, i.e. serialized action-adventure with a snappy pace and a bit of dry wit.Clone Wars, with its very stylized 2D animation and wall-to-wall action, is a good compliment to the later and longer-running The Clone Wars. The latter employed a more high-tech 3D/CGI animation style and focused more on character-based, long-form storytelling. And it really grew into a fine show. But the simple-yet-sharp visuals of the 2D animation on this one are my personal preference between the two. Sure, this style isn't everyone's cup of tea, but anyone who calls it "old-fashioned" is missing the point. This show is just the good stuff, without getting over-complicated and unwieldy. Long on charm, short on pretense. And the characters, especially, fare far better here than in the live-action prequel films. As someone else mentioned, this show proves that the Star Wars prequels could have been a lot better than they were. The basic ingredients were there, but the recipes was wrong. This is a good recipe.
alexfromhorn I hoped for nice Star Wars Cartoon with a nice story, good drawings and kool characters. But instead I got this...I think everything about this movie was really bad. The whole style how it is painted.. it reminds me of some old Hanna Barberba Cartoons. The story was like.. I can't even say what exactly has been the story just by watching this "cartoon". You have to watch at least Star Wars Episode 2 to understand a little whats going on.The Action was about 95% of this whole cartoon. And this action was really annoying because it always happened the same thing. Bang bang here, bang bang here, if you would count the shots I think there will be about 2000 or more. There was practically no dialogue.I recommend to keep your fingers away from this B-Movie Action Cartoon drawn like a mix of Heavy Metal Fakk 1 and the Jetsons.
noveltyhat it seems incredible how this show took all the elements of the prequel trilogy and somehow made them.. good. this show is proof that the prequels didn't have to be the mess they were. it captures the humor, awe-inspiring action and pure awesomeness of the original trilogy and puts it in prequel context. finally the complexity of the relationship between anakin and obi wan can be appreciated. anakin is no longer simply an impatient, silly person. grevious is actually threatening. the battle droids are actually funny! 3PO is... not as annoying! at least he's not worried about coming up with puns in the midst of deadly situations this time around. tyrannous and sidious can be seen as truly intelligent and malicious conspirators. the wookie planet isn't gimmicky. the battle sequences are brilliantly massive and surprising. the jedi tactics are staggering. i could adjectivize this thing all day. bottom line: forget the prequels ands remember this as the true old days of star wars. if only.
