This is How Movies Should Be Made

It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

I'm a big fan of Maya Rudolph, but I didn't particularly enjoy her first attempt at doing a variety show ("The Maya Rudolph Show"), but Martin Short brings a unique freshness within the collaboration (which is odd to say since he's a comedy veteran). I'm a millennial so I have heard of Martin Short before, but never really knew who he was, but I absolutely fell in love with him (particularly his character Jiminy Glick). The comedy is definitely modern and seems like it's for a niche market (hence the split in reviews). I really hope NBC renews this show for a couple more seasons. The ratings seem to be on par with SNL so I don't know why they wouldn't?Plus, I can't get enough of Jiminy Glick!

This 62 year old white male liked this show. I thought the writing was creative and far superior to most of the SNL shows from the previous calendar year. Not every joke hits. That's a given. It's Martin Short and Maya Rudolph (Minnie Riperton). But there were some very creative bits that have never been done before. And the guest stars they got was unimaginable. Steve Martin, Emma Stone, Nathan Lane, Tom Hanks, etc.Sean Hayes as the 1940's gay detective, filmed in B/W was great. The days where America sits down to watch a 60 minute show together are gone. But there was some brilliant comedy in this 360 minute series.I don't know if they could make it last in a second season. But I truly enjoyed it. Thank you Mikey, Maya, Martin, and Kenan.I ask everyone, what if SNL had these guest stars and cast every week?

I keep wondering why SNL is still on the air (I haven't been able to stomach more than 5 minutes of it in over 20 years) and then they come out with this piece of crap. Perhaps they came out with this stinker to make SNL look better?Anyway, I have always been a big fan of Martin Short and find it sad that his career is being euthanized on this show by Lorne Michaels and his crack staff (or is that staff on crack?). The ONLY funny bit here is Jiminy Glick, which Short created years ago so it really shouldn't even be credited to this show.Apparently they were throwing back to the 60's and 70's when good variety shows were so prevalent on the airways....instead, it's making people throw UP!

Horribly stupid show... I can't believe they canceled Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris and replaced it with this dribble. I'm not sure where they get the content of their skits but I think they took a bunch of skits from the last 35 years of Saturday Night Live that didn't make it on the air and tried to culminate them into a boring, hour long variety show. It's a show packed full of great actors & talented musical guests who have completely done harm to their careers with the dribble and this show. Martin Short was a pathetic example of this while portraying Jiminy Glick. In the first episode the only person I found even slightly humorous was Maya Rudolph playing Melania Trump. Other than that I found myself wanting the skits to be over quickly because they were so boring. This show has got to do better because right as it is now it has zero hope for success.
