    Nonureva Really Surprised!
Organnall Too much about the plot just didn't add up, the writing was bad, some of the scenes were cringey and awkward,
Maidexpl Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast
Sarita Rafferty There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
wsnider-15800 I started watching this to fill the summer dry spell of shows and before the end of the first episode I was hooked. I've been watching on a daily basis (sometimes binge watching)so I've almost finished the 2 seasons and am getting bummed that there aren't any more. WHY AREN'T THERE ANY MORE??? The main characters are all easy to relate to, personable and interesting. The long term plot is unique which makes it very interesting! I can't see a good reason for not continuing it.
gofastergetrounder The concept of a cop returning to the force with an eye to finding out who set him up has a ton of potential. Unfortunately, they didn't get the most out of that concept. This show made a strategic error -- trying to wrap too many short (single episode) cases as a major part of the plot time. Almost none of those were interesting-- perfunctory, blah, blah, blah detective stuff you see everywhere. More annoying, they detracted from what should have been plot time on the framed/set up element, which had a lot of potential. In short, I kept watching episodes now and again, but it took me a long time to get through the series. The really good series I have found on Netflix I would watch episode after episode until I worked through the series (e.g., Wallander, The Fall). One thing I found HUGELY annoying was that whoever did the makeup did a TERRIBLE job. Damien Lewis had so much obvious lipstick on at times I felt like he should have been in a dress too. Most unsubtle use of lipstick and makeup that I have seen since that one scene in "Wild at Heart." Makeup is not something I would normally look at or consider, much less make any comment about. But, in this case, it was really, really, really poorly done--enough to distract from the series as a whole. A really stupid mistake to make--didn't they watch the prior episodes before they shot the next ones?????
jimnich I've come to this show late, having completely missed it when it was first aired in 2007. As a Damien Lewis fan I decided to give the first episode a view just out of interest and was hooked almost immediately, what a great show, with some strong characters. Here in 2015 our detectives tend to be growling, uber serious, depressing, ultra macho problem children (with the emphasis on child). This series however is clever, stylish (it holds up really well against todays 'look in place of plot' helpings) with enough tongue-in-cheek quirkiness to make it a good watch without wanting to go and jump off a cliff afterwards. But, two seasons? What went wrong? I can only surmise that they didn't get the required ratings to keep it afloat. Of course there could be a myriad of other explanations but the show just seemed to be getting into its stride when it was all wrapped up very quickly and left in the rubbish bin. Certainly, on closer inspection, Damien Lewis never mentions it in any of his interviews, as if it was something he wasn't too proud of, which I just don't understand, it was a great piece of work.Anyway, for anyone tired of todays televised crime show darkness and gloom, this is well worth a watch, even if its just to see what makes a good cop show both interesting AND entertaining.
cmilne523 I absolutely love this show! I don't know if it is the writers, the actors, or what, but boy what a perfect combination! Its an absolute travesty to cancel a show this good when there is so much junk posing as entertainment that goes on and on for years. My husband and I are so disenchanted with television and the icky reality shows, so we watch Netflix and Amazon streaming TV and movies. We luckily came across Life while searching for things to watch, but we are extremely disappointed that it only lasted 2 seasons. We are well into the 2nd season, and I'm feeling a bit sad with the ending of each episode that I'm then one show closer to it being over with. This show has a good balance of drama, mystery, humor, really good tongue-in-cheek humor too, and great actors. I'm not done with it yet, but I'm missing it already!
