Realrockerhalloween The 80s smash hit that rivaled save by the bell in popularity and care to cover any subject considered taboo.Returning was Neil Hope (Wheels) Stacy mistysyn (Katelyin Ryan) and Anais Granofsky (Lucy) who know had new friends, identities and names to avoid continually errors or to develop interesting story lines for them.The story lines followed the kids from school to home and out side areas as they explored the world around them with the innocence of youth and drama following in the vain of after school specials.It could become very dark sometimes from Joey witnessing a friend being abused to Wheels accepting a ride and nearly being assaulted. Showing that life isn't always peaches and cream.What I enjoyed about the new series is characters who you care about, relate to and want to see over come the odds.The different location shots and parents interactions helped keep the show grounded in reality and even added to the plot when needed.The music sounds a little cheesy, this is the 80s, but for the time period it works wonderfully and feels like a time capsule to the past.In some ways it beats the new generation that tries to stay cool and hip while the classic did its own thing. I enjoy each installment for the variety you her and the issues covered.Degrassi can't be beat.

laugh_dance_love as a canadian, i admit, shows from up north aren't exactly top quality and that i'd rather flip to an american show, but degrassi was the best series in the history of series!! dawson's creek and boston public don't even compare! what made degrassi so unique from other teen dramas was the fact that the main characters were real-life teens, they were taken from off the streets: no acting experience and not necessarily good-looking. rite now "degrassi: the next generation" is on and while it's not as good, it still has that same atmosphere. when degrassi comes on, i urge you, WATCH IT!!!

mattkratz I enjoyed watching this show in high school and college. The main theme of the show was problems faced by kids while growing up (including teen pregnancy, drugs, peer pressure, death of a loved one, relationships, etc.), and I had heard of teachers using it to invoke class discussions during school. All in all, I recommend this to anyone who has ever been a teenager.

studhead182 I remember when I was in 7th grade my teacher would make us watch the show. When I saw the first episode I thought it was horrible! But then I kept seeing more and more episodes and started likeing the dang show. I saw so many episodes me and my friends knew the theme song. We always hated the show but then we kept watching it. It's better then doing class work. And when my teacher was going to put a stupid movie on we would beg to watch Degrassi Jr. High. That tv show warped my fragile little mind. I remember I've seen so many episodes. I watched the episode where that girl with the weird spiked hair gets pregnant. I saw the episode where Katelin gets a seisure. There were also other episodes like when Wheel's parents die and he runs away to meet his real father and Snake finds out his brother is gay and Joey wanting sex I think from Pam. There was also another episode with some balimic b*tch. And Katelin defending animal rights. It was just one of a kind shows. Every one shoulden't watch it unless your teacher tortures you by watching it. It's evil!
