Though in recent years Byker has gone off the boil a bit, in its first 9/10 years on air it was one of the best "Kids" dramas on the box. From the begining we saw real life. Teens fell in love and messed up their lives. They had pregnancy (twice), drugs, drink and in a ground breaking move, the first homosexual character on a kids show. Grange who??
