Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
Micah Lloyd Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.
Stephan Hammond It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
Sabah Hensley This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama
robertweissbecklp When I watch an anime...I never compare them too other anime or related games..... I only judge on what i can see and my own feeling towards the seriesAlthough the title seems a bit...childish....the poster seems interesting(most of the fan i know choose anime base on cool poster...lol)a beautiful girl and a cool hero...The character designer did a very good job.....the characters are beautiful and cool..the director and writer also did a wonderful job in introducing the characters and gist of the game....the action sequence is exciting.....and in my opinion the development of the hero and heroin romantic relationship...is welll plan.... not too fast and not too slow....I think that the production team were not given enough episode to fully tell their story... it is a pity that there are no 2nd season..... maybe if they were able to have a few more episode, the series would have made a better impression on the viewers.I couldn't find any other anime that uses bomb as their fighting tools...so i consider this series is unique and original(if you can forget about the game).I think that the series is worth watching and you will enjoy it very much however, the ending will be a bit disappointing as i feel that there are no closure.
Mayank Agarwal What a disaster, the anime bored me to hell. The only decent stuff about it is the animation, rest all is terrible. The plot of survival in a deserted island is an old one, so no originality. I did like the concept of using bombs as weapons but with no explanation on the bombs & little use of strategy or fights the concept is defeated. The anime is without a background story of why this is happening and frankly doesn't have an idea of where it wants to go. Normally in a survival anime we are supposed to root for a character but in this anime it's not possible as everyone got a negative vibe about them. The main protagonist is a NEET who hits his step dad and throws things on his mother during flashbacks and now when he is in the island he is supposed to be a nice guy!!! Most of the characterization is super weak and boring. This was suppose to be a thriller anime with tons of action but is sadly missing both. Also the anime was dropped midway without conclusion so its total waste of time.
Asadullah Khan A more gory, brutal, adult themed Sword art online anime I would say. The story is that a lot of people, including the protagonist, find themselves on a deserted island where they are forced to play an exact real life version of a popular online game. It was interesting enough to get me hooked and anticipated for every next episode. The protagonist was good, in a way that they didn't made him too strong or something, but didn't made him a complete wimp too, kind of a balanced type which you normally don't get to see. But they just had to include an annoying girl with big boobs to add fan service and romance. The action was decent, layered with gore and brutality. The problem though is that firstly, the anime ended without any resolution or anything, it just ended in mid way. Secondly, even the 12 episodes felt cramped up. So many characters could have been fleshed out more.7.3/10
Tweekums Ryota Sakamoto is one of the best players of the online game 'Btooom!' which involves players fighting with small bombs to achieve their objective. Then one day Ryota wakes to find himself on a remote Pacific island with a satchel containing eight of the bombs from the game... he is now playing for real! Over the course of the opening episodes he has to fight some other players and ends up teamed with Hamiko, a girl who unbeknownst to him had played the game alongside him on line and Kiyoshi Taira, an older man who also played the game. During this time we learn that there are a variety of different bomb types and players can only use other people's bombs if that person is dead, everybody also has a chip implanted in their left hand that works as a radar to spot other players and if a player collects eight such chips they will be taken off the island... which of course gives everybody a motive to kill and a reason not to trust anybody. This may seem like just another fighting-anime but it is much more than that; there is a good amount of action and the tension is always high but this is more about how the characters behave and how the game makes trust difficult. Ryoka and Hamiko make good protagonists; they are obviously skilled at the game but they aren't that much better than other players so it frequently looks as if they could be hurt. The premise itself isn't that different to 'Battle Royale' but the execution is different and the fact that players need eight chips to get off the island rather than needing everybody else to die means it is more believable that they would form teams... even if those teams are fragile. The fact that they are fighting with a variety of bombs is original and when they detonate it is well animated. There is a small amount of fan-service but it isn't excessive enough to be off putting. The series is only twelve episodes long but the final episode clearly leaves things open for a second season... and I'm sure most people who watched this will be hoping for more; I know I do.These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles. At the time I write this the series can be watched legally on Crunchyroll.
