A Disappointing Continuation
DipitySkillful
an ambitious but ultimately ineffective debut endeavor.

The story-telling is good with flashbacks. The film is both funny and heartbreaking. You smile in a scene and get a soulcrushing revelation in the next.

The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.

If you enjoy musical theater, this 3-part show is for you. You will probably find it on PBS.Sixty high school students--all winners who qualified for the trip to NYC--are taken to Broadway where they are schooled in vocal, dance and acting techniques. At the end of five days, they compete against each other. The male and female winners are awarded The Jimmy and $10,000.But they all are winners, because they receive invaluable advice and instruction plus the opportunity to appear on a Broadway stage. And we are winners because we get not only entertainment, but a chance to share their journeys, filled with laughter and tears.Broadway is a business, but these young talents are in it for love. You cannot help being affected by their talents and their efforts.
