GrandGayleAnn I found this series by accident on Netflix. We are prone to watch "seasons of" over a few day span, so we gave it a look. Wow. My mother was a little too young to work the factories during WWII, but her older cousins worked at Oak Ridge. To her, they seemed worldly and relevant. In her little girl heart, she wanted to be just like them. She would have loved this show. One of the reviewers (jessicaburnie from Toronto) wondered if "Bomb Girls" would hold the interest of the average male viewer. I am not sure how "average" my hubby is, but when he realized that we had watched the last episode of the series, he went into mourning. I think he is not-so- secretly in love with Vera. Oh, well, we all have our dreams.

YellaVette This series is a wonderful delight, especially for female viewers. The characters are so engaging, you feel they are your friends almost instantly. The writers effortlessly draw you into the lives of these ladies, their struggles & their friendships. As the story develops, you find redeeming qualities in the "villains" which make you love them, too. The truth of women keeping the world turning during war while men were off fighting is romanticized a bit, but it is a good reminder that women were the key to the war effort.The only disappointment is that the series ended so soon. Just two seasons leaves you wanting more. They have created a movie in an effort to satisfy the demands of the audience. It aired in March of 2014, but at the time of this posting, is not yet available to watch online. You will not regret investing your time & heart into watching this one! But, you will be a bit heartbroken when you watch the final episode solely because you aren't ready to let go of your new-found friends. However, go immediately to find Land Girls to watch online, and this will help you overcome!

Laura Davey Why are so many great shows cancelled? This show is Canadian, educational, well-written and extremely entertaining. It's a realistic depiction (without getting too gritty) of life during WWII in the Greater Toronto Area. With the able-bodied men away at war, the women work hard in a rather dangerous factory making bombs (hence the name) and lend a hand to the war effort.The show has many interesting female characters and focuses not only on their work life but their lives outside of the factory as well. The wardrobe is fantastic, the set decoration is very authentic and best of all the show doesn't pretend to take place in the States.I really hope it is saved and picked up for a third season.

Marlonius I picked this up, thinking it was another British production in the vein of Foyle's war, which I thought was excellent. Initially, I was quite confused and couldn't understand the lack of accents. Of course, I quickly clued in that it was a Canadian show.It feels pretty authentic and has lots of great details. The stories are quite compelling and the acting top notch. Cinematography is good too, and the photography looks movie quality to me and doesn't have the "cheap" look of so many Canadian productions.On the downside, there is just a little too little exterior photography. Obviously this would be expensive, but the show suffers for it and feels a little "sitcom-ish" and confined in the way it tends to cut from interior to interior with very little outdoor footage, especially city scenes. I understand why, but still miss them. Maybe Season 2 will have a bigger budget.My only other (minor) complaint is that it tries a bit too hard for the drama. It seems that every character has some secret burden, so there is no "everywoman" for the audience to identify with among the main few roles. Instead of seeing how the war and times affected most people, we're seeing what it was like for closeted homosexuals, the victims of evangelicals and oppressed socialites. I suppose the closest to an everyday person is the girl who loses her husband, but she's more supporting cast than lead. Anyway, minor issue.Overall, a good show, one that Canadians should be proud of.
