Well, We Were Lucky with the Weather Trailers

The Backlund family is going on a caravanning holiday. According to the father Gösta it is the best way to see Sweden. The son Johan does not want to do anything but bathing and the daugther Lotta don't even want to come along. You get to see the Backlunds in resturants, beaches and caravan sites. Gösta likes to rule his family but it does not go very well.

Cathardincu Surprisingly incoherent and boring
Titreenp SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?
Reptileenbu Did you people see the same film I saw?
Peereddi I was totally surprised at how great this film. You could feel your paranoia rise as the film went on and as you gradually learned the details of the real situation.
es23 Some regard this a Swedish cult film, they may be correct in some nostalgic sense. But apart from the somewhat diminishing nostalgic value, this film is a complete artistic failure. The story is sketchy and inconsistent, and the acting is far from satisfying; especially the father who's voice is in a constant yelling mode, he is uttering every expression with an annoyingly loud cry.The editing of the sound is lacking in professional touch, sometimes the soundtrack music is so loud that the dialogue of the characters is unhearable. And above all, the intellectual depth is about an inch deep, the jokes are suitable for 5-year-olds. It may be regarded as cult by some, but it is certainly nothing more than that.
dav4is I saw this on Swedish television in ca 1980, and thought it was a scream. I think that it has been once on American TV, and would like to see it again. A rough translation of the title would be "In any case, we had good luck with the weather." It was so long ago, that I can't recall all the gags, but I do remember these: * The incident at the car-wash! Priceless! Interestingly filmed from inside the car, watching the Father being swept up and over the windscreen in the midst of all that soapy water. And the family's reaction, they all being inside the car, of dead silence.* Spending the night camping at the dump, with thousands of seagulls whirling about. They headed for the seagulls, thinking it was the shore, and got locked in.* Grandfather's bladder control problems. The film appeared three years before -- and likely inspired -- Chevy Chase's /Vacation/.
pparker I have seen this movie about ten times and know almost all lines by heart. This is just the perfect comedy. Every detail is well thought out, the pacing is fast and fun, the characters show quite a bit of depth and the music is wonderful. Sometimes you can see things occurring in the background like in the Naked Gun movies, but unlike those, this movie is more true to life; except for a few things (grandpa's sand bucket, for instance) it shows things that could really happen, thus you can identify with the characters in the various situations they get into. 10/10
