Breakinger A Brilliant Conflict
Nessieldwi Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.
Voxitype Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
SeeQuant Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction
reaseltbim I liked this a lot, The story was pretty charming. A warrior that knows nothing but war and violence learns the value of life and learns the value of a normal life and of friendship and community. I loved that. It was a nice adventure fun movie. It felt like watching a cartoon come to life to be honest (Including the acting) Some of the negative reactions to this movie might be because not everyone realized this was meant to be that way. The story about the kid was sweet and funny, The girl was fun to watch and everyone in the town was fun to watch too. And the action scenes were very good too. I Loved the sets and I loved the environments the movie had. I really loved the costumes of the villains. I loved the steam punk fashion some of them had. I loved the clowns a lot. I loved that the movie incorporated the clown and the circus aspect, not only did it work for the comedy but it was visually really great to watch. their costumes were really nice. Whoever did the clothing for this movie deserves an award.
carbuff Ninjas vs. ninjas vs. outlaw cowboys vs. circus freaks. Violent, surreal, strange, and stylish, but nearly totally vacuous. I watched it, but regret I spent the time, because there is no here here. Purely a time-killer.I'm desperately trying to write a longer review about this film, but it is so completely empty, that it's like trying to detail the nutritional benefits of cotton candy. If I'm going to be totally honest, the people who will probably get the most out of this movie will almost certainly be under the influence of some illegal substance, since I don't think even alcohol would bend the mind enough to make this experience worthwhile.Yeah, this was another movie that inspired me to scrub my Netflix queue, since I so hated myself for the time lost on this mindless fluff.
Woonerism Never ceases to amaze me how a movie can move an audience in polar opposite ways. It's probably the expectations - so if you go in to have some escapist fun, action and swordplay, you won't be disappointed. So, why will I be happy to rewatch this grossly underrated movie that's avoided me for the first four years of its life tsk tsk: a simple story combining the Seven Samurai and Silas Marner (kinda), intoxicating mix of humor, gorgeous grotesqueness and visual splendour . . . and a love story that did not force itself on the surreal action thread. One of the hallmarks of a good film has to be how much love a writer director puts into the details and in this, it is clear Lee Sngmoo has nurtured this baby for a while: superb production, lovely setups and payoffs.Oh, make my decade and give us a sequel already!Amazing for a first time director. Bravo! Bravo!
Jan1968 I stumbled upon this film by accident while channel jumping and I was immediately captivated by its striking graphic style. This is Tarantino meets Ang Lee meets Wachowski brothers.People who are easily aggravated/offended by films with flagrant historically inaccuracies should stay away from it. Its just not that kind of film. This is a fairytale about the perfect warrior (the silent type, literally, since he speaks about 20 sentences during the whole film) that becomes imperfect (from a warriors point of view) by the power of innocence. The film is so stylized that quite often the set is -obviously deliberate- recognizable as just that: a set. The film looks beautiful, gorgeous even, and so do the action scenes, of which some may think there are too few. I do not share that opinion, for this is not an action flick. Nor is it a high pitched drama. Its just a fairytale, boldly visualized, that happens to be set in an intentionally roughly painted western setting. The pacing is slow at times, which leaves you more time to enjoy the visuals. If you liked Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and The Matrix for their visual flair, if you like Tarantino for his weird, over the top pulp stories, you really should try The Warriors Way.
