shakercoola A small Turkish army squad are left to guard a field antenna on a border mountain. It suddenly falls to an ambush from ISIS. It's a heroic story of two soldiers trapped in the ambush, fighting for their lives. There's an interesting and humorous interplay between an educated, wealthy young man, the other a coarse street smart ruffian. In a series of backstory flashbacks we learn more about their lives and their digs. The protagonist is very reminiscent of the young 'Taylor' from the Oscar winning epic, Platoon. They put aside their differences and learn to trust each other to try and survive an unforgiving situation. The landscape is beautiful and tension is moderate as we await their pickup.

TheBigSick The main plot line is the military operation involving the two protagonists. But at the same time, there are a lot of subplots told in flashback, which are about the family and life issues of the two protagonists before they join the army. I have to say these subplots are too long, really disturb the movie and interrupt the pace. Not only that, the action scenes are also quite stupid. The two protagonists do not even know the basic military rules. Instead of finding a cover, they just stand against the sniper and get shot.

ayyildiz-bulent It is a minimalist war movie promoting Turkish patriotism. There is no explosions, enormous gun fighting scenes and other visual effects, which are expected in war movies. The characters are original. Especially, Bekir character is very Turkish. In his civil life, he used to be a timid man who cannot declare his love. He is aggressive-macho type man, and loves fighting, which causes to prolong his military duty. On the other hand, there is a merciful son, who takes care of his sick mother and avoids harming even insects, but he feels like he has to conceal his softness since he thinks he must act like a "man." He is a spitfire and does not like to be rational. The other character, Oguz is the opposite of him; he is well educated, casanova, coming from a well-to-do family. Although he does not have to serve in Turkish military forces (since he is university graduate and is able to buy out his military contract), he sort of volunteers to be soldier. At this point, the movie criticizes Turkish military system and the inequality between the poor and rich, since the latter ones do not have to serve for the army if they pay certain amount of money. Oguz character can be criticized for being an imitation of western-type action movie hero, but this is another originality, since there is a westernization conflict in Turkey; those who are in favor of western type society called "White Turk," and Oguz is one of them. However, it is not known why he wants to attend to military service. Thew worst part of the movie was the sniper scene through the end; it was an absurd, unrealistic scene, where Oguz leaves his entrenchment and becomes an open target for the sniper within a close distance. However, the sniper misses to shoot him until he is out of bullet.

cccdddccc Film in the fact that it contains so many posts.
