"Tante Trude aus Buxtehude" is a West German color film from the year 1971, so this 85-minute film has its 45th anniversary this year. The director is the somewhat famous Franz Josef Gottlieb and the writer is Erich Tomek, not so famous I guess. This film is a perfect example of German show masters/celebrities going into acting, even if they have apparently no business being there. The good thing is that back then only the most famous ones did it (like Gottschalk, Krüger and the trio in here). Today almost every somewhat popular comedian has their own film, at least here in Germany. So yeah, what can you say about this one. The most shocking thing is that this is even a sequel, so people must have watched and liked the first film enough that they made another. I can only shake my head at that. And what is even more embarrassing is that there is a third movie about the "tollen Tanten". Rudi Carrell, Ilja Richter and Chris Roberts are the lead actors here and the female actors are completely unknown, at least to me. I guess they just went for attractive young women to work as a counterpart to the emmm.. not so attractive young men. The comedy is pretty weak here and there is no other component in this film. It's all about the laughter. If people found this really funny (especially the cringeworthy drag parts), then humor has improved a lot in the last decades. The people in here certainly had their strengths, but acting wasn't one of them. That much is safe. Still it's somewhat easy to appreciate this film maybe as a guilty pleasure as it never takes itself seriously and the actors seemed to be having a great time going so shamelessly over the top. But that is of course not enough to let me recommend the watch. Thumbs down.
