Tyreece Hulme One of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.
Juana what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Irishchatter I am so disappointed with this movie like for the love of god, Sonics voice was terrible. It sounded like a kid having a tantrum but worse! With Tails, he sounded as if his nose was blocked, it was extremely annoying.Bill Wise didn't do a too bad of a job of voicing Knuckles, however he shouldve acted more rougher and his hat was cool. To be honest, I think Edward Neal & Charles Campbell did great on their roles as Eggman and Old Man Owl. For the rest of them, it was gullible and needed work!I think I'll be sticking with the game series and the modern Sonic. I am hoping that SEGA won't ever make another film because of this. Actually they shouldn't have made a film in the first place! You have been warned!
Criticman12 Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the greatest video game characters ever made next to Mario and Luigi from, "Mario Bros.", Fox McCloud from, "Star Fox", and Samus from, "Metroid". It was so good, that it ended up spawning a comic-book series and four T.V. Shows. I have played some of the video games and I'm not a fan of the series. But in 1999, there were two OVA's that were merged and became a movie. The story is really simple, Sonic and his friends have to defeat Dr. Robotnik and Metal Sonic to save the world. The film has some good animation, funny moments, and I did like the idea of putting Metal Sonic in the movie. The problem's I have with this film is that the plot and story were weak, the English dub was pretty bad and I didn't care too much about the other character's in the movie."Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie", is not an awful movie, but it won't entertain a lot of people. If you're a fan of the series, then you would like this movie. If you're not a fan of the series, then this movie is not for you.
somariman1 Let me tell you a story. Once upon a time, Sonic The Hedgehog games were actually good. Because Sonic was popular the world over, SEGA decided to make a pilot for an anime series based on the Sonic characters around 1996. Unfortunately, they forgot that Sonic wasn't actually all that big in Japan. As such, it was never picked up.Cut to 1999. A group of hardcore otaku by the name of ADV Films realized that, with the imminent release of Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast, they could make a fair sum of cash by releasing the pilot as a direct-to-DVD movie here in the States. Hence, Sonic The Hedgehog: The Movie.I explained all that because I wanted to make it clear that a great opportunity was missed when nobody in Japan picked the pilot up. They could have made a killing on the US market.I mostly say this due to the animation. To say the least, it is absolutely gorgeous. The scenery is very detailed, the characters look exactly as they're supposed to, the actions scenes are nothing short of awesome, and it never descends into QUALITY at all. It captures the qualities of the video games perfectly, and the fact that it may remind fans of the FMV sequences in Sonic CD only helps.Granted, it's not perfect. The plot, which involves Sonic and Tails attempting to disable a generator in Robotnik's underground city before it explodes, is not very well developed, and is really just an excuse to watch the nice animation. The VAs are kind of love-em-or-hate-em, as well. I personally think they're alright, but I can understand why people would find them kind of annoying. People who aren't fans of the Sonic The Hedgehog games, or are only familiar with the post-Adventure games, probably won't get what the big deal is.It really is a shame that this was never picked up, as Sonic fans would have loved the show at the time. As it is, Sonic fans owe it to themselves to watch this, if only for the beautiful animation. If you are not a Sonic fan, however, you won't miss too much by skipping it.
Eksolat I just saw this movie today on YouTube, which is kind of a hindrance, having to watch it in six different parts, but I was absolutely blown away by it!!! This movie is everything Sonic used to be, and should still be---fast, edgy, and cool. This, I'd say is a representation of all the cool things about Sonic, while Sonic 2k6 is the antithesis of The Sonic Movie. I saw the English dubbed version, and yet I was still blown away by it. I'm not usually a fan of dubbing, but I'm just cool with it. It's pointless censorship I don't like. Anyway, I love how the Sonic Movie has all sorts of violence and other inappropriate stuff. If you're a fan of Sonic, you must watch this movie. As Sonic says a lot in AoStH, it's "Way past cool!"
