Wonderful character development!

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

Shamitabh...Instantly you think of two legends - Shammi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachan. Obviously there is no link to Shammi Kapoor in this film but you have to admit it's a great title. Shamitabh isn't quite what I expected it to be when seeing the trailers and reading the synopsis. Amitabh and Dhanush are both nothing short of brilliant in their respective roles, but i think the story is flawed in many areas and just doesn't grab your attention. I'm not sure how big Dhanush will be in Bollywood, but he clearly has created a niche for himself. Without a single dialogue, he matches Big B in terms of his screen presence so well. He is full of expression and very energetic. Amitabh, as always is the soul of the film. Not only is his acting just top notch but when you watch Dhanush, but hear Amitabh's voice you remember just how amazing his voice actually is. Akshara wasn't as a bad as I thought, but she does not have the looks to go far in Bollywood. Perhaps if we could merge the two sisters (her acting and Shruti's looks) and you'd have something pretty decent! I didn't like the music. Piddly is no doubt the most catchy and what most people will remember the film for. On the whole Shamitabh is an okay film - a must watch for both Dhanush and Amitabh, but considering the work Balki did with Paa and English Vinglish it's a disappointment.

The theme of the movie is based on audio and video.... It means how video and audio are part of each other and one is incomplete without the other. One is dumb but his acting is bold and other is old with a voice of a gold. The concept was awesome as i said but the film's story is kinda messed up. It starts.....continues but in middle it somewhat sways to and fro....kinda stretches the story. I was waiting for such movies with concepts coz such movies are not there in our cinemas anymore. It was due to this that i watched this movie(and for Amitabh bachchan too). As you see.......in Hollywood, they have great conceptual movies like one being made on Stephen Hawkins.... I see that such kind of movies have been started being made in Indian cinemas too which have good concept... All they need is a bit improvement. Still actors have done a great job as it is first time any movie has made me to review it.

Shamitabh Review:- Have you ever noticed the power of Sound...Have you ever felt the importance of Sound...Have you ever imagined the situation where you wanna express without voice , sound or dialogues...watch Shamitabh and feel the difference. This movie is all about Voice..Sound..Struggle...jealousy...stardom...and passion. The opening scene is welcomed with Big B voice which makes you completely thrilling but from Dhanush lips keeps you guessing whats the story is all about? This is R Balki's 3rd movie with Big B and like previous 2 this one is also a class apart. The storyline is completely different...Movie tile is also unconventional...the promotions style was unique...which creates an overall buzz and the whole package is bundled with the power-packed performance and nice direction. He is another lucky one in the lines of Mukul S Anand how earlier had his hat-trick of Hum, Agneepath..& Khuda Gawah with Big B. As far as Dhanush he has already shown his caliber in his debut movie and in this one he has power packed role which he had performed without any discomfort. Just think of any actor who is his early films has taken that type of risk / role. This proves that he will keep showing his talents in different avatars and do not want to be typed in a particular image like other stars. He left his mark in the entire movie few to mention here are... his reaction when got rejected 1st time, his eagerness n happiness wala expression, airport scene with Big B...etc. Coming to Big B ...my gosh!! What a talent ....what energy...and above all what a voice. This actor is totally flawless...each frame... each angles...shot in the movie where you find his presence make you spellbound. As we have seen him performing in many other films and love his acting this would be the first of a kind which challenges to decide as Big B voice or Big B acting but the winner is both. When he is in frame his acting mesmerizes you and when not his voice does. The overall movie was dominated by his voice which acted as heart & soul of this Fillum. His first interaction with Dhanush, the graveyard practice session, the Rekha reaction at Award Ceremony, the song rehearsal...water n whiskey...Robert De nerio scene where he makes a dig on SRK iconic hand stretching style...piddley song...picture mixture....etc are the few stellar moments which were well crafted and directed. Both danuSH+AMITABH compliments each other and was perfect match as per the story line. The music was also nice specially Title, Fillum n Pidley song. The only downside is the Akshra who was emotionless and tries hard to act. May be the 1st movie phobia. The climax was speechless and amazingly directed. Watch this Fillum and make yourselves blessed and get showered with the essence of Big B's voice.

Average concept and ending. If the director thinks that the ending is out of the box, then it needs to be out of the box and fulfilling for the audience.Amitabh is great as always is, only his films vary in their performance. Dhanush is OK and not hero material currently but who has seen the future. Amitabh's voice does not suit him. Abhishek Bachchan may have been a better choice for this role. He would have carried his dad's voice easily. Akshara Hassan's role is small but powerful. Good Job Akshara. It was unnecessary for the childhood Dhanush to have bashed his teacher, as that's a bad example for kids of any generation. It simply reflects on the background of the decision maker for this scene and one needs to be aware of this. The movie is average in the beginning, great towards the near end and the end is average again. Music is useless.
