Most undeservingly overhyped movie of all time??

Disturbing yet enthralling

Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.

A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.

After all of the princes in a kingdom are killed by agents for a rival country, one last prince is located and a female bodyguard is sent to bring him back in one piece. Once The prince is located the journey back becomes a never ending battle for survival. Okay action film is just a little too unreal and fake for its own good. The fighting is stylized with a great deal of wire work and over done effects (lots of smashing rocks, columns and walls) but it is serviceable. The costuming and make up involves a great deal of eye makeup on the men and everyone looks like they are from the roadshow of Pirates of the Caribbean with Jack Sparrow being the model of choice. Give the film points for looking spectacular but at the same time it plays like several direct to video films I'm seen on Voom's Kung Fu channel. Its not bad but it its not great. Its solidly good even though its clearly reaching to be so much more. A rental. between 6.5 and 7 out of 10

Well, what can I say -- great movie. The comparison to House of Flying Daggers of course is inevitable ;-) Shadowless Sword is more humorous (but not comedy-fun), there is a bit of adventure theme, the story is simpler (so there is less who-is-who guessing), and has two dazzling beautiful (!) women as leading characters. I almost would say I like Shadowless Sword more if only director didn't made special effects awkward.Maybe it is just me, but I expect that after hitting objects can explode, but not after cutting. And here some objects fall apart (with great speed and energy) what looks amazing (with proper music) but some... explode, which is not funny, not spectacular, not magical, not mysterious -- it is simply bizarre. It is so out-of-place that it spoils every fight scene when director decided to put explosion after sword cut. Pity...

Sometimes, films are just about color and movement- action and thrills. SHADOWLESS SWORD will not change your life, it won't make you think about the meaning of existence- but if you enjoy great fights and gorgeous actresses- then this film is for you ! Yun Soy is wonderful as the cool headed bodyguard - a much better role for her than ARAHAN- whilst she is beautiful, I found her to be very convincing in this film. So sit back , relax and just be entertained by the two lead actresses, the ultra cool underwater fight scene and the superb fight with the long mace inside the hut . Three words can easily describe this film- FIGHTS, FEMMES and FUN !!

I'm a big fan of Foreign films in general, and was quite looking forward to viewing this. My friend had said it was quite good but not great and it had some cute female actors. Hey I'm no film snob, if I don't care if there are some huuuuuge plot holes, if it entertains me, I'm happy.Sadly it failed on this simple criteria. The fight scenes were messy and IMHO poorly choreographed. The actors tried their best, but the script was not good. The plot was the usual rubbish seen a million times in Crouching Tiger and its ilk (and was clumsily handled as well), as was the awful, woeful wire-work. Actually, if you liked crouching tiger et al, you'll actually probably like this movie. For me, I want those 2 hours of my life back.I seriously seriously nearly made this the FIRST FILM IN MY LIFE I have stopped watching halfway through..... and I've watched some BAD movies in my time.So why did I give it 2? Nice cinematography and the 'Bad Girl' (Ki-Yong Lee) is ridiculously sexy. Thats about it.
