Mjeteconer Just perfect...
Abbigail Bush what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Kayden This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama
abhinandgopal A beautiful movie for all the Indian Regional Music & Rock Lovers. This is my first review on IMDb and I'm proud to have watched this movie, bunking college with a bunch of friends to buy tickets in Black and watch this amazing movie. If you haven't watched it, watch it. I can guarantee Farhan Akhtar and Arjun Rampal are their best. Directed by Abhisekh Kapoor who later went on to direct this beautiful film Kai Po Che based on Chetan Bhagat's best-seller 3 Mistakes on my Life. Watch it for the beautiful music, ALL HAIL! Amit Trivedi. The Part 2 on this film is in rumors, but I hope some day Abhisekh Kapoor makes the sequel of this movie with the same actors 10 years later in 2018. It will be better than the Richard Linklater's movies Before Sunrise, Before Sunset & Before Midnight. I pray!
bollycritic FINALLY caught it... and don't regret waiting. It was more often than not BORING. Not a patch on the brilliance of DCH.Three things held me back from seeing the movie earlier, and my bias/fears were proved right for all of them: 1) As mentioned by others, the music is amateurish. Not so much the tunes by SEL, but most definitely Farhan's annoying voice. My wife and I were shocked they used it in the movie. Yeah, it gives the movie a realistic vibe, but honestly, it was one of the key reasons I never rooted for the success of Magik, which I think was critical for the audience. "Yeh Tumhaari Meri Baatein" was the one beautiful exception, but no prizes for guessing that Mr. Akhtar's voice was nowhere to be found. I'm amazed the soundtrack sold so well too. Maybe it underscores that listeners are not as discerning about voices any more?? 2) Farhan is no actor. Yeah, the guy is versatile and can do several things now including writing, singing and direction, but I don't think he's great at anything other than direction. And even there, his brilliance piqued with DCH and has been languishing since. Actually, several of Rock On's characters are non-actors. Lucky for the director, Prachi Desai, Shahana Goswami and Purab Kohli compensated for the lack of talent in the others. 3) Abhishek Kapoor's Aryan was a dreary and tedious Rocky rip-off. And he suffers from the same directorial flaw as Kunal Kohli and Shaad Ali: their film's scenes take too long to get to the point. Sorry to say, I'm just not as patient a viewer as others may be, unless the scene has something brilliant to say. On a positive note though, Shaad has begun to work on this flaw and Abhishek still packed Rock On with a few engaging sequences. Unfortunately, for Kohli, there's no hope.
haninaqvi This Movie is Excellency! Perfect Story! Perfect ActingI cannot believe that their are still Best Writers in this industry! im completely surprised on the scripting and on the story! this movie is highly recommended for light hearted people! it will make them Feel Better and Alive! the way they get back together as a band formation! The Acting Done by the Actors are Extremely Superb! Farhan turned out to be a Fine Actor, a Good Singer, a Very good Director (as he originally is), Awesomely Made film by the Director Abhishek Kapoor, a very Rockstar (i think he is) its none other than Arjun Rampal! he is very Handsome and an Awesome Actor! he did some exceptional acting! so did Purab Kohli and Luke Kenny was Very good! and Prachi Desai was Good! not so much but her effort was nice, Koel Purie looked Smashing! The best thing in this Movie is the Storyline!! i would Rate this Movie! 10 on 10 because it deserves it!I just hate the Reviewers who said this movie wasn't good and them trashing it! they probably like movies like Singh Is Kinng or Welcome or Om Shanti Om! (im not saying those were bad movies all im saying is that good movies aren't being appreciated in this cinema)The Music is Awesome Since its Rock it should be Heavy Duty! but nonetheless it should be as it is! its perfect! Kudos on the Lyrics WOW! awesome!SEL: Hats off to you Brothers!this Movie surely deserves 10 on 10 and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to everyone! just see this movie IM sure you wont REGRET it!
saxena_ashes The movie failed to rock me as much as the hype. Farhan Akhtar chose not to direct but do everything else. Produce, sing, act. With a lisp that becomes irritating at times. Wonder why did he trust one-film-old Abhishek Kapoor to direct a somber, serious, 'grown-up-DCH', and made Papa Akhtar write some Kaale-Neele-Peele rock songs which became nonsensical and had to be somehow fitted in the drums and guitar. The soft ones like 'Tum ho to gaata yeh dil' and 'Kabhi khud pe hansa' are very good though. I did not like the basic premises of the plot that four very good friends don't interact for 10 long years just because of a stupid altercation. The pony-tailed Arjun Rampal and beautiful Prachi Desai provided some saving grace to the otherwise boring cast.
