Robert Joyner The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

EJojje I picked up this movie because it seemed to have a different refreshing theme compared to other recent Chinese movies i've come across. And not only was i not disappointed - the movie was even better than i expected. I admit i know extremely little about Chinese culture, but i immediately identified with the young woman's struggle to live her dream to be a singer. The film also had a lot of subtle suspense all throughout the movie which made every minute interesting. Also, the cast and directing was fantastic. Having never been to China i can't say much about how realistic this movie is, i perceived it a bit as both of a realistic drama and a fairy tale at the same time. I definitely recommend this movie to everyone who like music and want to see some of both the upsides and downsides of being an artist. The feeling left me with very much of a feel-good feeling.
