Reviews
ShangLuda Admirable film.
SparkMore n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.
Plustown A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.
Abegail Noëlle While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.
adonis98-743-186503 The lives of several couples and singles in New York intertwine over the course of New Year's Eve. New Year's Eve might not be a masterpiece but it's nowhere near as bad as i heard it was some actors actually gave some pretty nice performances like Hilary Swank, Robert De Niro, Sarah Jessica Parker and even Josh Duhamel the rest of the cast like Common, Jessica Biel, Halle Berry, Bon Jovi and more were pretty good too but no actor in this film gives an Oscar worthy performance and everyone knows what this film is about it's more about people who like this actors and like Christmas and New Year's Eve in general and i actually liked it a lot i don't think that it's a masterpiece i mean it's a bit silly like Zac Efron and Michelle Pfeiffer trying to be together and even certain characters that get a bit way crazy but other than that i think that this is a good film and i had a lot of fun watching it and if you're open minded and know what you're getting into you might not be disappointed. R.I.P Garry Marshall and a Happy New Year!!!
Python Hyena New Year's Eve (2011): Dir: Garry Marshall / Cast: Hilary Swank, Katherine Heigl, Jessica Biel, Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert De Niro: Embarrassing followup to Valentine's Day, which was an okay film in itself, but this garbage is unbearable at best. We have several stupid subplots including a contrived encounter in a stalled elevator where idiotic romantic suggestions are made. Hilary Swank is assigned to host the dropping of the ball in New York. For an actress who has won two Oscars, this is a sure way to drop the ball to crush your own career. Katherine Heigl plays a chef whose musician ex-boyfriend is back in town to attempt to reconnect and nobody gives a sh*t. The dumbest subplot involves two pregnant women who, along with their husbands, are in a race to see who can give birth first so to win a large amount of cash. Watching this unfold made me wonder if people during pregnancy really act this pitiful. Michelle Pfeiffer is also giving a less than thrilling appearance as a woman who quits her job and seeks help from a young man in making all of her new year's resolutions come true. One of those resolutions should be to fire her agent after taking part in this orgy of shame. Robert De Niro plays someone in a hospital whose big wish is to watch the whole New Year's fiasco. Garry Marshall had greater success with Valentine's Day but here he is totally off the radar. While the film is well made technically, it is so embarrassing that one could only hope that one's new year's resolution would be to drop that big ball upon this pathetic excuse for a romantic ensemble. Score: 2 / 10
Prismark10 New Year's Eve is an all star ensemble romantic-drama-comedy from the people behind the similar formatted Valentine's Day. However here they had an idea and tried to cram a script and a multiple storyline and it failed.A film that does not even smell Christmas even though it has a holiday season setting and is set on New Years Eve with Times Square becoming a focal point as the Times Square Ball will in due course will be raised and come midnight will be dropped. Our set of characters include two couples that want to be the first to give birth after midnight, a man dying alone of cancer, a stoned cartoonist stuck in a life with a backing singer, a middle aged woman who realises that life is sliding by and asks a young man to make her dreams come true, a young schoolgirl who wants to see the new year in with her friends and her mom is reluctant so she runs away, a man on his way to New York hoping to meet a lady of his dreams but his car has broken down. Then we have the person who is in charge of the ball drop and that does not include all the characters. Jon Bon Jovi turns up as a rock singer with regrets and on and on it goes. The interweaving stories do not work because of the poor script. You have scenes such as a doctor who tells a pregnant patient that she will not be delivering babies at midnight as she has plans only to be in hospital delivering a baby later that evening. The person whose sole job is to make sure the ball drops, leaves just before midnight to visit someone. The man who is striving to get to New York for in effect a blind date was certainly not horsing around. Some of the actors are playing shorthand characters. Robert De Niro as the grouch, Michelle Pfeiffer is similar to the secretary she played in Batman Returns, Lea Michele plays a character who stepped off Glee, Zac Efron has an enthusiasm like the character he played in High School Musical. The film is neither deep, funny or romantic. It even fails to reflect New York but does display a cynicism of lazy filmmaking as it strives for cloying sentimentality. The bright part is that the film is inoffensive, passes the time but you will gain little at the end of it.
haywoodyoudome This is a whole new level of suck. If anyone suggests this movie to you run away. Far far away.I just realized a review needs to be at least ten lines long. That being said let me reiterate the level of suck this movie achieves. It takes suck to a whole new level. Wait, I already said that. Regardless, it needs to be repeated. This movie sucks.OK, so I need four more lines of text. This is one so that leaves three more.Back to my first point, anyone who knows someone who likes this movie should rethink their relationship with that person. They most likely have severe mental health issues and should be put away to keep society safe.Hey what do you know? I can finally post this review. Awesome.
