Lancoor A very feeble attempt at affirmatie action
WillSushyMedia This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.
Taraparain Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.
Celia A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
ksundstrom The recount of the story and actors performances are admirably commented by your reviewers. This is to add something else (maybe only for the director Chopra). On action: it is an impressive Indian film (8/10). On acting (8/10). On direction (8/10). All these votes are on the Hollywood standards. But Hollywood "once upon a time" had great moral conviction with an enthralling story as the vehicle. "Mission Kashmir" doesn't have that conviction. It is action a la James Bond etc. That is full of action, well acted and exciting. However, Kashmir the country is something else. That something else is foreign to America and Hollywood - one will have to wait for the films on 9/11 (the first foreign attack on American soil) for a renaissance of in-depth traditional and emotional Hollywood treatment. India has had 60 years to ponder about Kashmir and director Chopra has not handled the in-depth part but has gone for the modern Hollywood ethic of getting a hit that makes money. As so many U.S. stars repeatedly now say, the name of the game is money and marketing. So on enlightenment about Kashmir a note of 5/10. Afterall, one hopes that a sensitive director as Chopra will decide to provide insights, emotional and intellectual, on difficult societal issues of India which academic writers fail to reflect satisfactorily. This also assumes that politicians can be influenced by pungent emotive films with a message. Mission Kashmiri proved weakest on that important message, and so remains a superb action film to be seen for the other reasons so well noted by your reviewers.
erminox86 this movie depict the strong ethnic tension in India, which was a result of the partition after they gained independence in 1949. the issue of Hindu and Muslim conflict emerge after the British colonization. We can see the struggle and nightmare of the innocent children who were really affected by the conflict. In connection to this, I admire the musical score(its fascinating) and the amazing cinematography, especially in the river scene where the Arabic words(signifies Islam), face of Jesus, and the submerged LOTUS. That scene really struck me, the brilliant director try to emphasize that HINDU will perish after the missile is released. Generally, this conflict is a result of a devastating colonization; in fact its like a disease that has no cure (a cancer in a sense)
Jessica Carvalho Mission Kashmir is one of my favorite movies! When Altaaf, 11 years old, stays orphan after a violent attack to his house,he is adopted by Inayat Khan, a generous official and for his dear wife Neelima, whose only son died in a tragic accident.Everything is going well, until Altaaf discovers that the man he calls ''dad'' is also the boss of the special group that tragically killed his family.Angry,Altaaf runs away from home ,and grows under Hilal Kohistani cares. Hilai is a brutal man ,dedicated to a holy war, wishing the Kashmir's Independence.Ten years later, Altaaf returns as a destruction instrument in an annihilation and revolutionary mission. Unexpectedly, he reviews Sofia, a beautiful friend of his childhood, and stays between love and hate, the brutality and the humanity, the pardon and the revenge, in a touching and adventurous action film, where the past crosses with the present, to decide which will be the future of a nation. The story is beautiful, colorful ,with great actors and a nice message. The actor who plays the adult Altaaf, Hrithik Roshan, is awesome. That's why my vote is ten.
harperlee Too many cliches. Prejudiced view of the Kashmir situation. Needless songs and unnecessary overacting at times by all lead characters (though this seems to be the norm!). On the bright side, great visuals, good music and a competent directing job. 5.5 out of 10
