Reviews
Platicsco Good story, Not enough for a whole film
WillSushyMedia This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.
SanEat A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."
Billie Morin This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
framptonhollis This has become sort of a mild internet classic thanks to its creepy, surreal nature, and I can see why some would be freaked out by it, but it doesn't really disturb me much. I mean, some of the masks are grotesque, but that's kind of it. Just weird looking masks. It's very gimmicky. However, it isn't really bad, there's definitely a unique and cryptic quality to the whole thing but it just doesn't intrigue me nearly as much as other "creepy" YouTube classics, the animations of David Firth for example. Firth often adds some kind of social commentary or sense of absurdist humor into his works, and a taste of these things is found in "I Am Your Grandma" but not enough for me to give it much praise. I will say that it's mildly interesting, pretty surrealistic, and was clearly made by a competent filmmaker with much potential.
Foreverisacastironmess And now she's trying to kill me! OK, it's the freaking space shuttle launch to planet bizarro-pop, go!!! Whoa, now just what exactly was this little oddity supposed to be? It shouldn't even really be here, it's not even coherent enough to be considered a real short! It's more like one of those endless snippets of random craziness that you get a lot on Youtube. Oh, you know the kind... Three of my all-time favourites of this particular warped ilk are Kitty Cat Song, Superbingo, and Crazy Tupperware Lady.(edited version!) One whole minute. It don't get much shorter than that! But uh, I like short-shorts! You can cook an egg in a minute. This was a mere blip on the radar but so much fun! Not to mention hilarious. The startling out of nowhere robot voice just about had me pissing myself! I especially got a kick out of the "loved by video" line near the end! The words of the loony little song are phrased in such a way that they come off as kind of twisted and confounding, but they make a lot more sense written down. It's actually a bit of a sad message when you think about it. Any grandchild of the future that played the tape that this little nightmare was on was sure in for a surprise! That was a little mental picture that kept making me laugh, that some unwitting kid of the far future would find a tape or whatever in some dusty old attic trunk and this would be lurking on it-eek! It reminded me of several things, probably obvious, like the voice reminded me of Madonna and the Vogue(strike a pose!) video, and the garish and creepy masks and costumes reminded me of Lady Gaga, and also, the "baby" reminded me of the killer from the underrated 1978 bizarre horror Tourist Trap. If you've never seen that one,do yourself a favour and do so right now. Ah, I just loved it! This type of thing, right up my street. After I first saw it I couldn't get that tune out of my head for ages-"I am your grandma, I am your grandma-ma-ma-ma..." Thank you kindly for the laughs, I love you grandma!!!
