Incannerax What a waste of my time!!!
Matcollis This Movie Can Only Be Described With One Word.
Sienna-Rose Mclaughlin The movie really just wants to entertain people.
Jerrie It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...
SnoopyStyle Samantha Mackenzie (Katie Holmes) has always been a sweet proper girl and the only daughter of the President (Michael Keaton). She is going off to college and the strict Secret Service protection doesn't always fit. She falls for student James Lansome (Marc Blucas). However the president is in his re-election campaign and James isn't who she thinks he is.It's always odd to note that this was directed by Forest Whitaker, but he seems to like these light rom-coms. And this is the lightest of rom-com especially in the first half. Katie Holmes is playing a stiff character and isn't allowing the comedy to come through. The movie does improve slightly with the twist for about 15 minutes, but then it falls apart with a flat unimpressive ending.
lisafordeay I recorded this on VHS a few years ago as it was on TV and the reason is because I am a sucker for Rom coms so I decided to check it out.The movie is kind of a rip off of Chasing Liberty where you've got a president's daughter who falls in love with a guy who is a secret agent.Katie Holmes(aka Mrs Tom Cruise) plays Sam a young girl who's dad is the president of the United States (aka Micheal Keaton). She is sick of being stuck in the white house she decides to move to college and become a normal teenager. She meets a guy named James(Marc Blucas) who is smitten with but what she doesn't know is that he is a secret agent in disguise so that he can keep a close eye on her for the president. The cast is OK,I don't really like Katie Holmes who is too sly and not very friendly, Marc Blucas is hot in this movie as a secret agent,Micheal Keaton as a president OMG they should have gave it to Ralph Fiennes, the music was alright, the chemistry between Blucas & Holmes was nice and sweet. The only downside I have to this movie is the horrible ending as she drove off in her Volkswagon Bettle and you hear the narrator saying and she will return in the spring and James will wait for her but thats another story, I thought she'd kiss James and live happily ever after but NO the stupid people who came up with it wanted to give it a crap ending that will put us to sleep (zzzzzzzzzzz). Best scene was that dance (just the way you look tonight)which I truly enjoyed and the rest of the movie was great but not Oscar worthy but the stupid beeping ending was awful. For the film a 5/10 for the stupid ending 1/10
j-lacerra This story has been done many times before, and better. But it has not been done more attractively. Forest Whittacker shows some talent as a director, but the script lets him down somewhat. It is not that there is anything really wrong with the movie; it just fails to deliver any kind of true punch. One waits for something major to happen, and it never really does. The title character, played by Katie Holmes, is just too good. She keeps her composure and suffers silently, but never really seems to break out. Her chemistry with a male student is good, but we kinda know that he is more than he appears. How do we know? Because we have seen it all before and this rendering did not try to vary or surprise. There is no chemistry at all between Holmes and her room-mate, played by Amelie, who is touted to be a well off kid, a BAP, but turns into the irritating know-it-all black character from the hood who has to teach the dumb white person how to live. Also surprisingly flat is Michael Keaton's portrayal of the president/father character. He does not come off particularly presidential or fatherly; Keaton is capable of better. The movie is a pleasant watch, but don't get your hopes up for any big turning point, as in, say, Guarding Tess. I hope Whittacker tries again and refines his director's chops with a better script.
vanille-1 Katie Holmes looked great and those Vera Wang gowns especially the light pink one is extraordinary and worth watching for! I enjoyed this movie as a light fluffy retreat, I don't think it's as bad as the ratings say. I thought the chemistry was just right between Katie and James. I do think the acting was believable and the dad and mom were particularly good. I wish the ending had been a little different though because I thought it was left a little too open. I wanted her to run off in the car with James. My favorite moment was the day she flew them out on Airforce one, it was a fairytale kind of moment.
