Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
guyallgood 3 misfit policemen chasing a mad bomber, 4 unemployed, pot smoking rebels with an underhanded plan to make some money, and 1 not so smart medicine man trying to steal the riches from a ghost's urn, cross paths that lead them to an insane asylum, where their 3 objectives keep the story line jumping in many hilarious directions. The humor is definitely Thai in nature, and the culmination of these three groups crossing paths, has many twists and turns that will keep you rolling, if you can try to understand Thai humor. The humor is mostly slapstick in nature and brings back many memories of the late greats in American comedy, such as Laurel and Hardy, Buddy Hackett, and the Three Stooges. While there are some things that could be objectionable to "sensative" viewers, I believe this is a show that any child above 8 will enjoy if they can sit still long enough to try to understand a foreign film. The three policemen are very popular, and quite funny, Thai comedians who work well together in every film I see them in together, as well as independently. If you like this one, you'll love another two known as Bus Lane (cannot find on IMDb yet), and "See How They Run" (Thai "Koy ter yuem") http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0833486/ If you are a thriller fan, keep your eyes on Thailand, as they tell very good ghost stories.
jonnie2010 I saw this film in Pattaya, Thailand earlier this year. It was quite good fun, but you really had to leave your brains at the door as the plot did not make much sense at all. Still none of the locals seemed to mind so why should I? Typically Thai comedy, lots of slapstick humour etc. Basic plot was 3 detectives have to pretend to be doctors at a mental asylum to find the identity of a mysterious bomber. There was a very funny shaman like character who thought he could cast spells or hexes or something like that, and would sing a song and do a very silly dance to help him convince people he had magical powers. The funniest scene is when one of the 'doctors' has to perform dental treatment on a loony patient. I wonder if this will be available on DVD sometime?
supersanderman SInce I'm now staying in Thailand for two months, I thought I ought to see at least one Thai movie. Just for culture sake. This movie probably wasn't the best choice.Maybe I just don't understand the Thai sense of humor (some ladies behind me seemed to enjoy the movie a little too much in my opinion, and couldn't stop laughing), but I just couldn't get a smile on my face during the whole flick. The jokes didn't got more funny than dumb dancing, making weird faces and big screams. I can enjoy "simple humor" like people scratching their balls or something like that, but even when the actors really tried to be funny in the simplest way they failed horribly. You cannot expect the plot to be clever in a movie like this. It was a sort of Thai version of Scary Movie. Therefore I won't go in to this. The story had enough openings to make it funny. There where three plot lines: the incapable undercover police that tries to stop the bomber, one loony guy that tries to find some relic in the psychiatric institution, and three guys that try to rob the institution. Only the fact that all of this happens in a madhouse should have made it really easy for the writers of the script to make viewers laugh, right? I really hope Thai cinema has more to offer than Dumber Heroes. Actually, I expect it does offer more since I saw some nice looking trailers before the movie. Maybe I'll go there next week
