2hotFeature one of my absolute favorites!
ThedevilChoose When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
Hayleigh Joseph This is ultimately a movie about the very bad things that can happen when we don't address our unease, when we just try to brush it off, whether that's to fit in or to preserve our self-image.
Billy Ollie Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
Suman Shakya 90s was the time I started to understand movies and still I can name movies from the decade which I don't get tired of watching umpteenth of times like Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Dilwale Dulhaniyan Le Jayenge, and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Don't know why I missed Dil To Pagal Hai, which I got to watch after 18 years of release. Just like the movies I've named earlier, this one is also to be cherished for the sheer beauty it perpetuates in the screen through the visuals, pose costumes, music, songs, and dances, which are so mesmerizing that you crave more of them in the movie. Perhaps this is the charismatic direction of legend Yash Chopra, which he has continued in his numerous movies.Story-wise, the film is a bit off beat from a regular romance. It deals with the confusion in commitment, friendship, love, and couples made in heaven, in which our four main protagonists are entwined which has been beautifully resolved by the end. At the beginning, the film seems to lack a substance in its story which gets compensated pretty soon. The weakness of the film is its inability to develop the character artists in the backdrop. Shahrukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit deliver good performances, for which they got the awards of the year. They have performed better in many movies, but it's Karishma Kapoor who performs significant compared to her other movies. Akshay Kumar appears a bit weary and doesn't offer more than a guest appearance. Had the story carried a bit of substance to its glossy look, the film could have found a better height.Rating: 2.5 stars out of 4
krishna sivakumar This movie in my opinion was waste of time. The movie was too confusing and too hard and confusing. It has no romance. It was supposed to be a love triangle but it is not.The theme means there is some one for every one which is too un real and fake.Yash gives a terrible recipe for delight.Everthy thing is bad.The movie could have been fine if it not for the amateurish dialogs, screenplay and dialogs.Screenplay is confusing and is dull.Direction is mediocre.Dialogs are dull and tacky.Editiong is okay.Sound is goodReally the movie was not an absolute waste of time.It is watchable for Karishmas act.She dominates the movie from start to end(sorry Shah Rukh ).She is a complete scene stealer with a well deserved national award. She is pretty annoying at times.I could relate to her character in her skits. She is one great actress that should really come back and mainly should teacher her sister how to act.Shah Rukh Khan is amateurish. It is shocking to see that a man which gave one of the better performances that year with Pardes comes back with this trash.Madhuri looks stunning and thats it.But she does look great playing a show piece.Akshay barely has a role but still acts well and leaves a mark.Farida Jalal and Aruna Irani barely have a roleSongs are good. The filming is good.Technically the movie is superb.Camera work is flawless.Sets are looking stylish as ever and so are the locationsThis is watchable just for Karishma and the songs
Aparajeeta I have seen this movie innumerable times. I am a huge fan of Madhuri Dixit and feel that this is her best movie by all standards. Some might contend that this honor should go to Hum Aapke Hain Kaun.Well, since I am on Madhuri's side, either ways,I am on the winning side. But in my opinion, Madhuri has looked her gorgeous best in this movie. Her talent is showcased to the helm in every moment that she is in the frame. The dreamy eyed lovelorn girl, could not have been portrayed with better panache and finesse than was done by her. The most amazing aspect of Madhuri in the movie was the freshness and innocence she brought to her character despite having been around for sometime.Truly the work of a genius. SRK and Karishma were excellent in their supporting roles. It is a beautiful story, well written and executed with a masterful elegance. I strongly recommend this movie to all moviegoers who, like me,are besotted by movie magic.
espiritlibre Nisha, Rahul, Pooja are three different aspects or perspective's of love. I bet more people can relate to Nisha's character, Karisma's performance is near perfection there is no comparison between her and her co-stars. The national award was well deserved. Karisma should continue acting and win more National awards. Rahul is the dream-weaver...he creates story yet cannot relate to love. He needs to see it to believe it. Maybe experience love, when he does love in the form of Maya claims him and Rahul being a guy is upfront and honest with his feelings. Maya the illusion...who better than Madhuri Dixit. Madhuri is one of the world's most beautiful women, she could be an actress in Hollywood. Madhuri and Karisma work well together, DTPH has become a cult classic. I first saw the movie in theaters in 1999, not the best experience I had to change seats due to someone touching my hair. I learned to like this movie...I had to see beyond the imagery. This movie is quite profound. The debate whether the heart is crazy will continue for eons. Personally I believe that people do not want to take responsibility for their behavior. All Pooja or Maya has to do is be honest with AK's character. He was really good in the title song! AK has great stage presence (he sings too) He was great in the Awesome Foursome Show 98' and the 2001 show. I like that Punjabi song he sings. Getting back to the movie... Great performances, great music... I love all the songs. With Pooja's character it is not always easily to break the hearts of those close to you---especially since she is emotionally attached to them. But wouldn't loved ones want her to be honest with herself. The best part of the movie is the "musical theater" performance that is when Rahul confronts Pooja...as their friends watch. To avoid such issues people should be honest with each other in the first place...expression not repression. Anyways I have the collectors copy. There is more I could say I could write pages psychoanalyzing the characters and blah blah blah.
