ReaderKenka Let's be realistic.
Mischa Redfern I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.
Kaydan Christian A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
Ernst Wiltmann Ruth Goldfish is 18 years of age, beautiful, assertive and determined. A dream is motivating her to leave the sheltered life of a bankers daughter,to live on a farm to raise animals and vegetables. Her chance to do just that arrives at a Ball, when she mets a handsome Officer of a financially troubled farming estate. She marries him with a sizeable "Mitgift" her indomitable energy and her skill to win people for her ideas. It doesn't take her very long to get the estate back in profitable order. she discovers her passion to raise special types of plantation cherries that will become immensely popular. Ruth is such a vibrant and agile person, there is now way, for her to miss out the social boheme. She is drawing artist's intellectuals and celebrities from the berliner salons to the Bleicherode (Harz Mountains) farmlands. Being so busy, it seems she is missing the dangerous clouds of fascism closing in on her. Being a very popular person, seems to protect her from the nazi prosecutors, at least for a while.Being of Jewish heritage after all, this is going to chance. Amazingly she also possess's a talent to create a bubble world around her, with almost no personal enemies. Fascism delayed is by no means fascism neutralized, Her friends and supporters eventually have to hide her. Until the red army arrives, a lot of biographies will be shaken to the score. Ruth is not perturbed by life under communism, she always knows how to create a reality around her , thats works in her favor. This is not a fictional character, this powerhouse of a person really existed, and it is fascinating to witness her biography. I wish we had millions of Ruth's, our planet would be better off. This miniseries deserves a much larger audience, and I believed people will be enchanted by Ruth. By the way, the actors did a superb job. I just can not praise this film enough.
