Reviews
Peereddi I was totally surprised at how great this film. You could feel your paranoia rise as the film went on and as you gradually learned the details of the real situation.
2freensel I saw this movie before reading any reviews, and I thought it was very funny. I was very surprised to see the overwhelmingly negative reviews this film received from critics.
TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Ella-May O'Brien Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
Ameer Khan This movie is legendary and there is so much to praise about it. First of all it has an antique theme. Second it is a beautiful romantic love story containing true and ever lasting love. There are emotions, melodrama, romance, tragedy and a lot more in this movie. You can learn a lot from this movie about a lot of different perspectives of real life too. Ego is highlighted in it and relationships are of a focus. It is just perfect combination of all these genres mixed in a way to make it amazing. The emotions are so real to make you feel the real feelings of the movie and the cast of this movie has put the best of them into it. It has been a favorite to me and a lot of other people since the day it released. No matter how much you criticize this movie, at some part of your life you are going to love it.
gavin6942 After his wealthy family prohibits him from marrying the woman he is in love with, Devdas Mukherjee (Shah Rukh Khan)'s life spirals further and further out of control as he takes up alcohol and a life of vice to numb the pain.Clearly I will never understand Indian cinema. I have seen more than handful now, and they strike me as melodramatic, too focused on singing and dancing, too colorful and far too long. Why they seem so childish compared to just about every other country's films, who knows? "Devdas" has plenty to like about it if you happen to be into Indian film. But I am not, so all those great things just make me scratch my head.
Saurav Bhasin The movie is based on a Fiction Bengali story by Sharat Chandra Chatterjee but it can be applied to real life too .Devdas is a upper class guy who lives his life according to his wish much to the chagrin of his practical family and society (In India). He is a rebel not only to his family but to himself. He has a childhood friend Paro which then transforms into a romantic relationship. Paro and Devdas are absolutely in love with each other. But as is true in fiction as in real life, Love is something extremely dangerous. It is risky fraught with dangers to life itself !. But people who are in Love hardly care about this. They live a life moment to moment without thinking about either the past or the future. As is usual someone else gets into the way of Love and as it happens in real life more often than not it is your own family which comes into the way.So Devdas's family is opposed to their union especially his dad. Devdas goes against his family but in that moment of weakness he is not strong enough and loses Paro forever. He realizes his mistake but it is too late. Paro is already prepared for her marriage.Resigned in love, Devdas loses himself. He drinks and drinks only to forget Paro but he cannot. Meanwhile, a courtesan Chandramukhi seeing the pain of Devdas falls in love with him.The story moves on with the tragedy of Devdas's death. As is always the case Love could kill you and it does kill Devdas. There is a saying - Love is a slow suicide and how true it is.
shivakumarvishwa I saw this movie in January this year and i have to say this is a breathtaking movie. This is sometimes Sanjay Leela Bhansalis best work. And i do consider. The story opens when Devdas family is happy that there son is returning from England. His mother says that she will be the first person to see him.But he goes to see Paro first.Mother is angry. Then a fight happens between Paro mother and Devdas mother. She banned him from seeing her.He meets Chandramukhi. From her Husband Chunilal he is Drunk. The movie is a remake of the 1955 Devdas starring Dilip Kumar as Devdas,Succhitra Sen as Paro,Vyjayanthimala as Chandramukhi.Shahrukh,Aishwarya,Madhuri and Jackie were superb in the movie.Shahrukh delivers a Breathtaking performance. The cinematography and Chereography is Excellent. The music is Excellent with Excellent picturisatioons. This deserves an Oscar Award. To Bad it failed.I don't know why they ignore Indian movies.Costumes are dazzling.Dialogs are wonderful. The climax is powerful. The scence where she runs to the gate is unforgettable and haunting.Kirron Kher and Smita Jaykar do a great job and so do the others. On the whole, this is an amazing movie
