Reviews
Baseshment I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
Erica Derrick By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
Quiet Muffin This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.
Brenda The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
Ramneet Not enough words can explain how well this movie was thought out and executed, from the amazing actors to the beautiful clothing and timeless music. Devdas tells an ageless story about love, sorrow and remorse, that forces the audience to experience an emotional roller-coaster. There is so much feeling and passion expressed by the characters, that it ultimately makes it difficult to love or hate any one of them; whether it is Devdas (Shahrukh Khan) who is drowning his sorrows, Chandramukhi (Madhuri Dixit) who yearns for her unrequited love, or Paro (Aishwarya Rai), who is bound by her unfortunate circumstances. The movie takes you on a journey, one in which you feel as if you are personally feeling the emotions of the characters, experiencing the same circumstances, which ultimately allows you to immerse yourself into the heartfelt story of Devdas. It was personally, a very emotional story,no matter how many times I have watched it, it always makes me cry. Sanjay Leela Bansali does not miss a beat in this beautiful story, and will leave you thinking... what if things were different?. I absolutely loved it!!! You will not be disappointed :) (I would say more, but I really am speechless! Once you see it, you will understand)
Namra Syed Hussain Devdas- 2002 Director: Sanjay Leela BhansaliSanjay Leela Bhansali's labour of love Devdas is a larger-than-life, poignant and spectacular interpretation. Clearly Devdas is a work of art and heart. Ismail Darbar's rich compositions are mostly situation-based and aid the narrative. Thankfully, the music plays in the background and Devdas and Paro are not shown lip-syncing sweet nothings. Pandit Birju Maharaj and Saroj Khan storm the screen with some sensational choreography. Madhuri Dixit's dances are breath-taking. Binod Pradhan's eye for detail cannot be missed as he romances the camera with imaginative angles and lighting. The good thing is that before the viewer gets too caught up in admiring Aishwarya's exotic hair clip, the shot switches to the sorrow in her eyes.
suri1011 Sanjay Leela Bhansali who made fabulous movies like Khamoshi and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam gas made "this"!??? Was he out of his mind? Well what to say about the acting.... Hard-core overacting, too much "Shahi" behavior... SRK as Devdas can be ones worst nightmare... Ash as Paro is just irritating! Only Madhuri as Chandramukhi does a bearable job. With a running time of 185 minutes is just a pain... Mediocre songs like Kahe Chhed Mohe, Maar Dala, Chhalak Chhalak, Morey Piys have no use in the film but just to make it longer.. Everything in this film seems loud, irritating and over-the-top. Lavish sets and Promotions are the main ingredients of a "Hit" movie and that's all in Devdas. I remember my friend telling me that he slept within the first 10 minutes of the movie and got up at the intermission. I don't recommended this movie... Its awful
sohaib92 I think this is one of my favorite bollywood movies and one of my favorite actor srk is in here and he did a tremendously good job as well as everyone else who did this movie. This movie is based on a true Indian epic which was also a remake of the old movie made at 1955. Anyways its about a young man named devdas coming from London after a long time. He finally gets to be paro his childhood love and he wants to marry her but his dad wants him to marry a well known girl so he basically leaves and moves in with his friend who basically is a heavy drinker and they part together and devdas meets another girl played by madhuri whose a bar dancer but he drinks so much because he simply can't get paro off his mind. So he just keeps drinking and eventually dies. This movie was pretty sad and over reacting was needed and it worked nd i hink its hi best performance. Aishwarya rai and madhuri were good to and the songs were excellent and matched the film ill give it an 8/10
