Micah Lloyd Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.
Ava-Grace Willis Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
Edwin The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
Woodyanders Cory (a solid and likable performance by Eric Larson) and his friends go to an old shack located in the middle of a remote woodland area to investigate the mysterious circumstances pertaining to the deaths of Cory's grandparents. The group uncover a powerful demonic force that threatens to destroy them all. While the story clearly copies "The Evil Dead" and takes a little while to get going, the competent direction by Charles Philip Moore, a potently brooding gloom-doom atmosphere, the neat array of colorful secondary characters (the magician duo in particular are a total hoot), a generous amount of gloriously outrageous over-the-top gore, several inspired bizarre touches (one poor gal gets transformed into a doll!), the nifty practical make-up and equally gnarly optical special effects, and the wild fiery climax more than compensate for both the occasional sluggish pacing and dearth of originality. Moreover, the sound acting by the able cast helps a lot, with especially praiseworthy contributions from Francine Lapensee as Cory's sassy girlfriend Elaine, Rufus Harris as cranky old-timer Harcourt, Mark David Fritsche as the brave Jack, Sherry Leigh as the spunky Bonnie, and Bobby Johnston as obnoxious macho jerk Dell. Both Thomas L. Calloway's polished cinematography and Bruce Wallenstein's spirited shivery score are up to speed. A really fun fright flick.
mwmtampa I must readily agree with most of the comments posted for this film. Incredibly lame, yet the camp appeal just can't be denied. My particular favorites are the gruesome twosome companions and the young female ghost crying out "you're mine!".One question though about the demon wind fog effect - when they saw it coming, what would have happened if they had run to the trees and held on to them for dear life? Would the demon wind had been defeated? Or would the trees also had been transplanted? It would have been interesting to see if this theory had worked. I guess we won't know unless we can enjoy a Demon Wind 2.
degenr8_1998 I first saw this movie when I was about five and found it very scary. A few years ago I rented it thinking that it was still scary but instead I found myself busting a gut. I cannot believe this movie gave me nightmares for weeks. I think the most awesome part of this movie is when there is a naked woman outside the window but as the guy gets more tempted she turns into this disgusting demon thing. I hate to say it but I am a sucker for bad movies. I would not necessarily call this a bad movie, however as I have seen worse. If you are a horror fan or a deranged redneck from the hills of Arkansas this should really be your calling, all I can say is rent this mother.Cory J. McWuss
anxietyresister In another of the dreadful horror films I seem so masochistically attracted to, we have a bunch of friends stuck in a haunted house slowly being killed one by one thanks to a horde of zombies that spurt yellow blood and have very bad dental problems. The first 45 minutes is all talk however, and considering the young thespians cannot act their way out of a paper bag and are given the most banal dialogue ever to dispassionately recite, this is especially painful to sit through. If you manage to stay awake through that nonsense, things don't get any better.. with bad make-up galore and cheesy, bargain basement (not-so-special) effects. As for the conclusion.. well, what's the betting that the old-timer who warned them against going to the spooky mansion in the first place will turn up and save the day for the last two survivors (a boy and a girl, of course) with his mystical powers? Please.. life is too short for these kind of movies. Donate the time you would otherwise have spent watching this tripe helping out the community, do a couple of shifts in a soup kitchen or something. You'll feel you've actually done something productive with your life, and you won't have put money into the pockets of studios who churn out irredeemable rubbish such as this.Unfortunately, it's already too late for me.. now, where did I put that copy of 'Pumpkinhead'? 1/10
