The Critters doesn't appear until almost halfway into the film, and they are stocky and ridiculous. Unconvincing acting and plot. Well, not much of a plot...this was just stupid. The fun of the previous films is gone. In fact, it was so laughable, its difficult classifying it as a horror, but it wasn't funny either. It was just so bad, its no wonder the franchise ended...

paul-heys-im So, I took forever to get around to watching Critters 4. Big fan of the first two, and despite knowing beforehand this one was only marginally better than the abysmal 3rd entry, I am still disappointed. At the outset, it all looks so promising, the Crites are back in their natural habitat, space, doing what they do best, chowing down on hapless humans. Well, at least that's what the DVD cover would have you believe. But in reality, Critters 4 should have been subtitled, "No Crites on set", as you hardly ever see the Crites and even when you do, their kills and banter is very unoriginal and just not very fun to watch. Critters 4 takes a darker route than it's comedy horror predecessors, but the humour is half the fun of Critters films, in 4, the humour is nullified to non existent levels apart from a few "Insane computer" jokes that fell flat. Once the fun is removed, and the Crite action, you are left with a plodding, dull as dishwater, 1 and half hour movie that has very little to redeem it. Whilst I really dislike the 3rd film, at least that one didn't go out of it's way to ruin already established fan fave characters, such as Ug. Yes, Critters 4 is a turgid movie, even for fans of the series, but worse, it commit's the ultimate sin, it destroys the awesome character Ug, who has been built up over the series into one of my all time fave sci fi characters. In this film, you find out that Ug is no longer a bounty hunter, nor is he generally a nice guy now, now he's a murderous bureaucrat who wants to preserve the Crites for use as bioweapons, instead of kill them. The sudden and unexplained changes in Ug's character leave a bad taste in your mouth. Also, the underwhelming use of the best character in the series, Charlie, leaves a lot to be desired. Once again Don Opper is brilliant as Charlie, but, he has nothing to work with. The characterisation and dialogue is very uneven. Even as a Critters fan, I can't recommend this film to anyone. I hope this is the last. No reboots, no further watered down, below par sequels, unless the Chiodo brothers get back involved. Critters, it's been a fun 30 years, but all good things must end.

nzswanny I don't get what all the fuss is about, the movie was great! I mean, yes, it was a bit slow starting...but you HAD to be introduced to the story, didn't you? Myself, I think this movie is underrated and should have more stars. I mean, yes, Ug turns bad, but that will actually make a good story if you think about it. However, I didn't enjoy it when Ug died. Ug dying is the reason I didn't rate it 10/10, and I also didn't rate it 10/10 because it was a bit slow starting. But then again, how can that make the movie 4/10???? This movie is so underrated! This movie deserves way more stars than it has, and so do the previous Critter movies. Critters should be 7.9/10, Critters 2 should be 7.6/10, Critters 3 should be 7.5/10 and this movie, Critters 4, should be 6.9/10. But definitely not 4/10!!! This movie deserves way more positive reviews, and is just begging for a sequel when Ug comes back to life. Trust me, the Critters series will be saved when another sequel comes out. That's all we need. A Critters 5.

Critters1986 Now this isn't saying much but this is actually better then part 3 in some way. The story takes place in space (finally) as it stars some great actors like Angela Bassett, Brad Dourif and the same actors from 1,2 and 3 Don Opper and Terrence Mann. Now the Critters acted really silly in 2 and 3 but in 4 they reduce the silliness and make them serious. But its a bit awful in a way. The actors at some moments say some bad acting and at moments the Critter puppets look really cheap. But I still enjoyed this movie and thats where the Critters Franchise finishes. They kind of finished the series good but not that good. And thats all I've got to say. So thank you for reading all my Critters reviews and I hope to for some more reviews for you guys to read.
