SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?

If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.

what to expect from life when life changes? what's next? mix it and ball game and you get "the coach". do not expect a groundbreaking film, but expect at least identify yourself there. little big movies are about that.this story can be installed in our imagination and it is there under several different ways. but here is a very well-made, articulated and perfect genre film, with a great capacity of holding those who watch. with an outlook on life and on people that you won't see in every film of that particular genre. simple and delicious.

Moral lesson, love story, slices of sport beauty and romance. All in a fragile skin. With many holes and not inspired rhythm. Pieces from everywhere to tell childish story about a loser and his wins. And charm of Hugh Dancy. It is not fake or pink but each scene is known and learned. Nothing new and nothing realistic. An ordinary movie about individual metamorphose and the end as chocolate cake. And hero from Spiderman recipes. A comedy and exercise to create a story. An platypus. Nice but strange Part of long and boring speeches about values and victories, love as secret key and discover of essence , lovely for small intentions and forgiven in short time. But as break is so good !

Nick, a man living off a trust fund, has not amounted to much in his life. Finding himself without his girlfriend Zoe, who decides to try a new life in Hollywood, Nick has no idea what to do with himself. One day, he spots a young man practicing soccer movements in a school yard. The boy shows he has potential. Nick having played the sport before, becomes interested in teaching what he knows. In order to do that, he must first ask for a job at the school, something he is not prepared for.We have seen this movie before. The older man that becomes a mentor to a group of kids, making them excel, by inspiring in them the spirit of competition and achievement. Directed by Will Frears, it is not a total waste because of the work of Hugh Dancy, a likable actor that does not have to do a whole lot to convince the audience he is none other than Nick. The comedy is predictable, although it shows a new director that no doubt will do better with the right project. The supporting cast include Liane Balaban, playing Gabrielle, the doctor that catches Nick's eye. Young Jonathan Ramirez seems like a natural as Hector. Other players include Mamie Gummer, who has been getting quite a lot of roles in recent mainstream films. Something that did not strike the right note was the opera sequence in which, as though by magic, we were taken to the magnificent Budapest Opera House where Gabrielle and Nick attend a performance and with some networking thrown in. One wonders why having two world famous opera venues in New York, the creators of the film decided to fly them to Hungary?

"Coach" has the formulaic kids-teach-coach-how-to-succeed-in-life same old drivel written all over it. And it never rises above.Hugh Dancy plays Coach, built from the same mold as Hugh Grant in "About A Boy". I like Hugh Dancy but even he isn't able to make this film very likable. He stars as a rich trust-fund slacker, and when his girlfriend dumps him he realizes he needs to find a job to finally grow up. So he coaches kids soccer, where we find the usual misfit kids who he is able to bring together and they show him a thing or two about growing up. From the outset he's a good coach but in the usual, lame way - this film didn't add anything new or intelligent.I was disappointed with the romantic comedy story line, as his love interest didn't add any comedy, and her character wasn't redeeming in any way. Also very poorly cast (that girl is definitely not a doctor). The other main problem with this film trying its hand at romantic comedy is that it alienates its audience. With the mild sexual content I don't think it's meant for kids and most adults would want to go for something more intelligent. It would be suitable for teenagers but they aren't given any characters to relate to."Coach" ultimately does nothing wrong, but its very disappointing that they couldn't add any bit of originality or thought to this tired formula.
