Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Edwin The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
lamapaenitens This follows many events of Fr Jorgé in his time from entering the seminary to his election as head of the Roman Catholic Church. What I saw that really impressed me was the growth of the man throughout his life. It was mainly a growth in his ability to have empathy for people, particularly the marginalized and the families of missing persons. He learns how to love and give of himself and to not think of himself so much. He began to see the role of the Church as a promoter of social justice.I found the acting and cinematography excellent. The movie is in Spanish but after a few minutes I wasn't aware of them any more.
corky-13105 GREAT bio-pic of Pope Francis. We were hooked from the opening credits on. (and if it matters, we're neither Catholic or Christian) Great acting, directing, writing and production. Human and unpretentious-- like the hero of the program. Also chilling insight into the hell of living under a fascist dictatorship. Sadly, frighteningly, in light of today's new regime, this should be required watching. Caution -- there are some brutal torture scenes -- but not gratuitous or manipulative (clearly not Hollywood made). All together, superbly constructed story telling -- until the last episode that seemed to rush the big moment. No biggie.
