    BootDigest Such a frustrating disappointment
Brightlyme i know i wasted 90 mins of my life.
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Nicole I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
marielaC Some stories never lose its magic and The Three Musketeers is one of them. This adaptation is fresh and lively, and the production is very good. Performances are wonderful too; the three young musketeers and D'Artagnan are fine actors. In the 1st season, Peter Capaldi was just brilliant, as he always is. And I loved Ryan Gage as King Louis. A delicious performance throughout. I watched the first two seasons and enjoyed them very much (8/10). At first, when Peter Capaldi left, I thought the show was going to lose power, but Marc Warren proved to be a fantastic villain too. And that, I think, is the key. A good villain. Which the third season, in my opinion, was lacking. I started watching it but it bore me to death and I quit halfway through. I didn't like Rupert Everett performance, or was it the character? I don't know. But I found it rather tiresome to watch it, so much so I haven't ended the season and I think I never will. Also, I think the script wasn't as good as in the previous seasons.
nicholls_les Love this series mainly because the characters are so well cast. Tom Burke as Athos, (He looks so much like Stacy Keech if they ever remake Mike Hammer)Howard Charles as Porthos, Santiago Cabrera as Aramis and Luke Pasqualino as D'Artagnan are all pretty much perfect. The other characters are all good especially Ryan Cage as King Louis and Alexandra Dowling as Queen Ann. Tamla Kari is brilliant as Constance and Maimie McCoy brilliant as the slightly schizophrenic villain. Hugo Spear makes a great Treville. Peter Capaldi as Cardinal Richelieu really stands out as the perfect villain and most of the stories are well written and directed. However the early series were the best and the later ones are sometimes silly. Marc Warren was like a cartoon character as Rochefort but at least he tried an accent unlike many in the latest series who have Yorkshire or Manchester accents. Oh for the days when actors could actually act. Rupert Everett makes a go of it but he also comes across as a caricature of every evil period character and is more Dickens than Dumas.Suppoting actors are like a who's who from British TV and they vary in being able to pull off being period characters. But over all this is a very enjoyable piece of escapist TV.
Eddy Hertens It seems more money was spent on hairdressers than on plot writers,...or indeed decent directors. This ultra-light interpretation of the classic A. Dumas tale could be great: it has good production values, some quality actors and the BBC knowhow behind it,.... but so far it has been heartless, unbelievable pantomime NOT worthy of the BBC. The main roles are unfortunately portrayed by fashion models, not actors, trying to deliver at least a believable performance. Definitely a product for a generation that prefers looks over substance. It is possible for the Beeb to make a series that treats drama in a humorous, over the top and yet believable and enjoyable way (Atlantis, Doctor Who, ...) but here it should decide whether to make a serious period drama... or go full panto and hire Mr. Atkinson. (Blackadder returns?...)
nits_ss saw this series over the weekend binging over Christmas. Being a big novelist and avid fan of Dumas novels , immediately liked this series. While it tends to feel-good drama with be clichéd and cheesy in some aspects , has a fresh breath of air with amazing portrayal of characters from lead actors along with keen comic timing. Hoping that this series can turn on the same scale as the Vikings, Game of thrones etc. Want more villains in the series going fwd. I hope the creators reduce the cheesiness and delve further into depth of characters of the Musketeers and their devotion to the king and country . Cannot wait to see series 3. enjoyed!
