Kodie Bird True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
Myron Clemons A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.
Catherina If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
Cassandra Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
archi-5 I do like the new Partners in Crime and the actors, but I have a couple of reservations. In the first show it was amusing that Tommy was so slow and unaware, but by the 2nd show, N or M, it was becoming disturbing that he was so clumsy in his reactions. Hopefully, if there are future episodes, he will become a bit smarter and not do things like getting his uncle shot. I do like the fact that he is not, as in previous incarnations of this series, so arrogant.I did have a problem with N or M in that we never find out why the scientist handed over his bomb. Was he being blackmailed? And why in section 2 of that program when Tommy and Mrs. Sprout are in his bedroom at the hotel and she calls him Mr. Beresford did he not react? Was it just another instance of him being slow on the uptake or was it a mistake that no one working on the show caught?
feussamy I'm disappointed that so many did not enjoy this series. I love Walliams and wish he were in more dramas. (Remember his great supporting character in The Body in the Library; Agatha Christie's Miss Marple?). I'm not that familiar with Raine but I thought she sparkled in this comedy/mystery. Along with Steer as the handless chemist they make a great ensemble. It appears some were disappointed because this was not a serious, grim show. Granted it was not Tinker, Tailor Soldier but I can't believe it as supposed to be. I gave it a 9 because the plots could be better but as a vehicle for these wonderful characters it worked.
Prismark10 I have vague memories of the early 1980s version of Tommy & Tuppence made by ITV. Francesca Annis certainly left a strong impression on me.The BBC remake was promoted as a Indiana Jones type, fast moving adventure. David Walliams whose production company was also involved was not as dashing or debonair as James Warwick. Jessica Raine tried her best with a dour script but the production was dead on arrival. It was hampered with three part stories which took me back to television of the 1970s when everything seemed to move at a snail's pace and episodes were padded to the hilt. The stories were not fast paced, thrilling or exciting. There was little sparkle between Walliams and Raine. The production quality was substandard. Just compare this to the far superior Sherlock which bought a certain élan which this series desperately needed.Walliams casting was risky but he made his character look like a bumbler. This is not Agatha Christie at her finest.
Paul Evans Only one Series, comprising two 3 part stories, firstly we had The Secret Adversary, and secondly we had N or M.I thought they were rather fun productions, trouble is they seriously didn't feel like Agatha Christie, I thought the first part of The Secret Adversary was excellent, but after that it went downhill a little bit.Jessica Raine was really well cast, she looked excellent in the part, fitting of the period. I think Walliams was the main issue for the failing, for anyone that has read the novels he just wasn't Tommy. Far from it, he was out of character.Really great production values, they looked excellent, even though the time frame had been altered.I don't think the series was given enough mileage, who knows, if it had continued maybe there would have been an improvement. There were only 5 Partners in Crime novels, the best one I think being 'by the Pricking of my thumbs' shame it won't be made.
