Perry Kate Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
2hotFeature one of my absolute favorites!
SeeQuant Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction
Bessie Smyth Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
invisibleunicornninja My friend made me watch episode one, and its not that good. Its over-the-top but not in a good way. I was too bored to cringe, and I would not recommend this show.
Irishchatter I absolutely enjoyed this anime, I liked the humour, the twins and the romance between Haruhi & Suou. I like how Haruhi even from the very beginning, didn't give a toss whether she dressed as a male or female, literally I really applaud for her bravery in dressing up whatever she feels comfortable with. I really wish I could've gotten away with it when i was in primary/secondary, since the education world who requires specific uniforms for both genders is pretty much sexist in my opinion. I truly believe in this day and age, people should wear what they want especially in schools. Bullying is involved but still, you get bullied anyway whatever you look like unfortunately. I thought Suou was showing off his feminine side and Haruhi her masculine side in which I pretty much love because they both have unique personalities and they aren't like the boring couple you normally experience in other romance anime! Both were very cute even in the end, Haruhi and Suou were dressed in gorgeous clothes that had me melting like seriously they really are a great matched up couple. It's too bad they didn't kiss while they were falling off the pier but never mind, this was still an entertaining anime! Who can forget the twins? Omg I never seen such twins in an anime before who be drooling all over each other haha! Seriously both of them were cute and hilarious regardless of the "uncomfortable" relationship they have. They really were the stars of the show like I give them top marks here!Brillant anime, it was even nice to see and hear J. Michael Tatum(aka Sebastian from black butler) voicing one of the characters! I give this anime 9/10!
Screen Squinty This is an enjoyable show for the family. From the technical end of things, the character style ( done by Kumiko Takahashi) is not completely faithful to the manga like other animes such as Inuyasha and Naruto for example, but it doesn't veer off to much style wise from their manga counterparts in character design, leaving them still relatively recognizable. The character style works with the bright upbeat tone of the show, even with the few moments of seriousness that pop up. The school itself as the pinkish opulent stage that much of the plot is set in is perfect for the exaggerated qualities of the rich lifestyles it is portraying. The main character, particularly the main focus of the show Haruhi, is the shining light of this show. She breaks the usual mold of female characters in high school based anime, or even other teenage girls in television from the Western end is a delightful mix of straight-man, brutal honesty, caring, and Charlie Brown; a real step forward for female characterization. The rest of the Host club characters themselves makes its business in the narrative on playing up qualities of tropes of the different types of teenage boy found primarily in shojo (manga typified in style and story content as geared towards female audiences) such as the Princely, Cool type, Mischievous/Forbidden love, Lolita, Quiet Type. You certainly get an introduction into what classifies these tropes are, even Haruhi is one of these male tropes as "the natural." Normally, highly trope based characters, especially main characters as the host club, run the risk of quickly becoming uninteresting if not handled right, but in this case, these characters are almost a parody of these tropes, with just enough personalities themselves that exist outside of those tropes to let you know that the characters are not solely defined by their type. The character dynamics themselves work well, particularly between Haruhi and Tamaki, as Tamaki brings her out of her shell a bit more by livening things up and Haruhi, corralling Tamaki with her on the nose remarks. The dynamic between her and the rest of the host club is also good, though isn't quite as fun as her and Tamaki. The voice acting for both the original Japanese release and the English dub (done through FUNimation), were great talents that conveyed each character exactly, particularly Haruhi (Caitlin Glass), with her believably closer to gender neutral voice. Tamaki in particular was a joy to hear, capturing his flamboyantly narcissistic gung-ho qualities well. The story itself is great, each episode consisting of a great deal of hijinks, which are a good collection of zaniness using both expected and not so expected elements, with little quiet moments to appreciate the moral (for episodes with morals) they were trying to get across.Overall this show presented the style, tone, characters and narrative premise beautifully, upping the natural ham that made it so enjoyable from the source material, even filling in and improving on some things from the first manga volume without it veering to far from its source material until somewhere in season 2 then it veers away drastically. While it could have done to run a bit longer, perhaps taken a break to correlate with the manga a bit, and the ending of the series felt a bit rushed, it is still an enjoyable watch for everyone.
bennyjayruss Host Club' was entertaining at times, and uninteresting the rest of the time. I disliked this show very much. Maybe it was the 'fake-incestuous' twins, or the relationship between a 'toddler-like-boy' and a senior... something just didn't sit right with me. This show seems like it's marketed towards primary school kids. It's full of stupid stories and over-the-top characters. Popular opinion says that this is a great show, but I think it's at the bottom of the barrel in comparison to other Yaoi and Shoujo anime series. It's about a girl named Haruhi (Maaya Sakamoto), who accidentally walks into a room full of handsome high school boys. They are the 'Host Club,' a group of boys who are in the business of escorting girls who want to be wooed and thrilled by their charm. The group is composed of: a very feminine leader, a boring manager, fake-incestuous twins, and another boring person (with his toddler-like companion named Honey). Basically, Haruhi becomes friends with them and you see all kinds of mischief they get up to.First of all, there aren't any likable characters... not one. You never hear their thoughts (unless they're joking), which makes it impossible to connect to the characters. The thing is, none of the characters have a particularly interesting story. They're all either over-the-top and annoying, or too quiet. The character that looked and acted like a toddler bothered me the most about this series. There is a romance story with this character that is just plain weird. This is a toddler for all intents and purposes! He's there to look cute and represent a 3 to 6 year old boy. Even though he is '17' in the show, does that make his romance any less disturbing? Honey-Senpai is literally the most annoying anime character I've ever come across. He's not cute, and the sound of his voice makes me cringe. I dreaded having to watch an episode that focused on him.The incestuous brotherly love characters also made me feel a bit uncomfortable. It is as if someone made a fan-fiction of The Weasley Twins (Fred and George) from Harry Potter, with them being a couple. It's like there's no such thing as a 'Taboo' in Japan. Crossing the line... what line? Nothing is off limits for their animes. Minitokyo.Ouran.High.School.Host.Club.298202 After seeing top quality anime recently, Host Club was above all, unimpressive. There was nothing new or exciting. If there was a hint of originality or heart put into the story-lines and characters then perhaps the show would have won me over. For now, it's just another forgettable show.P.s. I rated this show 1 Star, because its rating is way too high on this site. Personally, I would give it about 3 Stars out of 10.
