PiraBit if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
SanEat A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."
Derrick Gibbons An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
Marva It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
Tom I could list all the reasons why this movie fails but honestly just watch the the trailer and you'l get a good idea of how bad this movie is. I actually enjoyed this movie when I saw it a couple of years ago but in the same way I enjoy 'the Room' and 'Cool cat saves the kids'. this movie is laughably bad particularly the scenes with the pirates, so unless your with a bunch of friends who enjoy watching bad movies than I wouldn't recommended this movie. Honestly the only reason why i'm bothering to review this mess of a movie is to complete my profile checklist.this is the kind of movie that gets given out for free with the Mail on Sunday.(that's a newspaper in England.) In fact that's actually where I found this movie so I think that tells you all you need to know. I'm going to end this review now and never think about this pirate, giant rat, praying mantis,Patrick Stewart,Volcano themed monstrosity ever again.
Joseph Toth If you're like I am, and like movies that are very well put together with great costumes, stage sets, cast and real entertaining creativity ...I think you'll like this movie.(In fact, I wish there were more movies like this.) This one is another title in my personal movie collection, and I'm glad I have it.In all honesty, this film touches base with a little bit from several areas, such as some suspense, drama, a little thrill, and to me, some spots came across as having some sci-fi.Wonderfully done, and a treat in difference from the other movies out there. Another great movie!I highly recommend trying this one too.
Moonwrack The quality of the leading actors, notably Patrick Stewart, Kyle MacLachlan and (lesser-known on the international stage but highly-rated in the UK) Roy Marsden, fails to raise the film from the ranks of the unwatchable. Fortunately, although clearly not intentionally, this situation offsets the not-so-subtle anti-British propaganda; something which features regularly in American productions. In this instance, Nemo's wife and daughter have died while being interrogated by the British during a rebellion in India. Presumably this is a pseudo-historical reference to the Indian Mutiny of 1857. However, it seems likely that most people will have switched off before that regrettable piece of dialogue is reached.
RLARKT199 Hallmark entertainment should leave these Jules Vern films alone. They did a bad job on filming,20,000 leagues under the sea, which was around a 3 hour bore, now, their version of Mysterious Island, again another bore which lasts about 3 hours. The special effects were bad,a bunch of relatively unknown actors,do not waste your time with this one. If possible,go to your video store or purchase a copy of the 1961 version which is far superior than this one. The 1961 version has well known British and American actors, good special effects that were outstanding for that year, even today they stand out, this film also has a Bernard Herrmann music score.
