Colibel Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.
    ReaderKenka Let's be realistic.
SeeQuant Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction
Plustown A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.
rachaelsfun But i find when they kill the animals esp the homesteaders amelia and Joe ? she has literally Pet domestic Bunnies .. now im pretty sure in the usa you arent allowed to breed to Kill domestic ones for food ONLY wild ones .. I know in some parts of the world ppl can get fined and charged for breeding domestic ones for meat .. but My main thing is they were pretty graphic about how they were gonna kill the animals .. they could have just had the shot of them taking the animal and saying we are gonna have it for meat and then have another shot of them later when its dead and skinned .. ppl dont need to see ya kill it and Im an adult and that part Upset me almost deleted the show :( and yes grown up on farms and seen where meat comes from but come on ppl not something that looks like ya pet ......I do enjoy the other ppl on the show though but they my least fav now
yitzi I enjoy this show very much and hope that Nat Geo will bring in a 4 year of the series and many more. It's very enjoyable to see people who have the guts and the brains to detach from the "regular life" and live a life more free of the modern stresses. I can't do it myself but if I were 20 or 30 again I would definitely give it a go.
rog doger This show isn't a survivalist show. Live Free or Die refers to how the participants choose by different degrees to simplify their lives in a way that allows them to be free from debt and free from the anxiety caused by reliance on a consumer lifestyle. In 2008, the participants probably watched the world's economy almost collapse because lots of people bought lots of things that they really couldn't afford. Millions of people lost their jobs and all they owned because the bankers wouldn't loan unless we consumers (the government) agreed to assume the banks' "toxic assets." There isn't much difference between these people and more "normal" people who strive to be debt free by repairing a car instead of buying a new one, or raising a few chickens and putting in the equivalent of a victory garden. Fun, informative and entertaining.
l_b_moniz If any of these people have lived more than six months of their lives in a rural environment I'd be shocked. They appear to be totally incompetent with regards to woodlands living. Really, surviving long term in the wild by drinking water through a hollow reed? Absurd! They appear to know little or nothing about true rural/mountain lifestyles. I realize we've become urbanized, but as a kid in the mid-1950s I can assure you any Boy Scout over age 12 knew more about rural lifestyles and rustic living than these self-styled survivalists. Anyone who subscribed to Mother Earth News in the 1960s would know more after reading just one year's issues. Ditto for anyone who ever read Ellsworth Jaeger's classic tome on wilderness survival.
