Ketrivie It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.
Robert Joyner The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
Ezmae Chang This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Phillida Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
Antonio Kowatsch The two protagonists, Roman and Peter, are outcasts in their own rights. Peter is a gypsy and Roman is hated by almost everybody in the town because of his family name. So they naturally gravitate towards each other. Both have their secrets and continuously explore each other's boundaries throughout the first season. In season 2 their friendship is tested in many ways. It's all about their trials and tribulations. New dangers arise and the lines between between friends and foes are starting to blur. A certain sense of uncertainty is cast over the entirety of season 2.Season 3 focuses heavily on the importance of family and less so about the friendship of the protagonists. The whole "ghost seeing" theme that was explored during the end of the season seemed rather silly to me. I did not appreciate it in the slightest. What I found somewhat ironic however was the fact that Dr. Pryce and Shelley were far more interesting and complex characters than the two actual protagonists. So much so that I stopped caring about Roman and Peter halfway along the second season.Final Verdict: if you like TV shows about supernatural creatures you should give it a try. It's quite decent. Definitely had its moments.
bixby-80106 I love most of Eli Roth's movies and his sense of humor and absurdity. The first season was great until the end. The acting was good as with the twist with the intelligent girl being the werewolf but not Rowen becoming a vampire. Like another poster wrote how Peter gets his face ripped off and dies. Comes back as a wolf. Dies again. Then all of a sudden there a scene in gypsy trailer where they just say he woke up in bed with his girlfriend somehow. Who knows? He just did? It's was magic! It was like Jon Snow or the Oriental character on the Walking Dead. I hate it when you are immersed and then it just breaks you out of a show by the ridiculousness of it, the audience manipulation. This review is only for season one mind you. The first episode got me hooked especially in the high school when they first show Rowen's sister who looks like something out of a Tim Burton film. This is a crappy review but just finished the last episode, 13, which is 3 to many as there are such boring long lulls towards the end of season one.Anyway thank you posters for the majority warning about seasons two and three. I don't want to go through another season of this if it is worse. There is so much I don't get but I don't want to waste anymore time on it.
dianallang Season one laid the foundation for what could have been an amazing series. The two main characters coming together to discover themselves and solve a murder and become close as brothers What I loved about the series. The characters Roman and Peter had chemistry.. And who doesn't love a werewolf/vampire story. The werewolf transformation in season 1 was the best I've seen!!. What I found annoying... Season 2 and 3 they recast the actress who played Shelley who was supposed to be 7 feet tall. Her proportions were off in every scene it hurt my brain. Also way too much Olivia and Pryce. Their story lines went in weird directions and was completely unnessisary. And last but not least... The flying manta ray thing. Horrible Cg.
Ferdinand Raditsch I barely glanced at the reviews before trying out Hemlock Grove - I saw they were pretty mixed. I really enjoyed it at the beginning! A mixture of American Horror Story, X-files, the Twilight Saga, and a touch of Bates Motel, it had plenty of potential but a highly unsatisfying ending to season 1. After all the horrible things that happened in that town, I should believe a little girl was the big bad wolf and was capable of eluding everyone the whole time!? The writers of the show couldn't come up with a better closing!?! I hoped it would get better again in season 2, but the plot inconsistencies were terrible. The creativity also went downhill, it wasn't believable anymore, just ludicrous. The only way to hold a horror genre like this together, is to write a story and develop it in a believable manner!! If a certain point is made in the story, it should be upheld until the end of the series and not "forgotten" - it confuses the viewer.Don't get me wrong, this show has a lot of perks such as beautiful filming locations, nice cars, impressive real estate, good looking men, amazingly attractive women, some nudity, some gore and action, and some great suspense - might I add, some great musical selections including a good amount of classical music! Dr. Price became one of my favorites, he had great character development! (They killed him off at the end sadly!) The CGI could have been worked on a bit more but my biggest beef is with the writers (or whoever signed off on the script)!!! And, since they didn't know what to do with it anymore, the second half of the third season is a downwards spiral of deaths of all the main characters! The only person who survived from the very beginning is Shelly! OMG, talk about wrapping this series up in a hurry, a season 4 would be unthinkable. I liked many elements of Hemlock Grove but it was just sooo unsatisfying, why oh why couldn't they have made it better?!?
