    Pacionsbo Absolutely Fantastic
Jonah Abbott There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
jakes-mail This is the sort of quality material usually seen from the BBC; intelligent and witty without being jokey; funny and believable situations with superb acting. The best part for me is that although the show had a mostly all black cast, it was not an exploitation of the black demographic. It was a smart, dry, somewhat dark situational comedy to which anyone could relate. A bar/restaurant owner is struggling to do whatever he can to stay afloat and keep his business going despite lots of problems and setbacks. Frank is everyman. I would love to see this on DVD because I missed some of the episodes when they were originally aired.
skj-19 In the first episode, in the first scene in the diner, a Jimmy Rushing record was playing on the jukebox. I had two reactions: 1. They made this show just for me! 2. It's doomed. Sure enough, the programming geniuses at CBS White Shadowed it. For those unfamiliar with the term, the verb "to White Shadow", from the series of that name, means to repeatedly preempt a show for cartoon "specials" and move it all over the schedule so people who want to see it can't find it, then cancel it because not enough people are watching. As others have commented, this was one of the best TV series ever made. The writing was superb, the acting wonderful, and the music a delight. It can't be available on DVD soon enough.
redagin Frank's Place one of the most intelligent comedy-dramas of the 80s. This show was underrated and was taken off the air prematurely. CBS seemed not to be able to place it in the right time slot. The episode of the deceased showing up in the back row of his own funeral was one of the most enjoyable episodes of ANY TV show that I can remember. If only....If only it was brought back in syndication.Tim Reid and Daphne M. Reid produced such a wonderful show, it calls to your attention that well written, sophisticated, intelligent television programs many times do not receive the praise and viewing slot that is necessary to make it a mega hit.
aussie-20 I've got to agree, this is closer to real Louisiana folks & New Orleans than anything else you'll find, and there's a lot of heart to it. I sense that the series was a labor of love, and I wish I could have it on DVD, along with Evening Shade.
