Reviews
Fluentiama Perfect cast and a good story
InformationRap This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
Kaydan Christian A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
Kinley This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
Jay Q Saun Stokes' official response to the breakup is posted on the T.U.G. Entertainment website, expressing his "shock": "They are like my sons, and I can't understand how, or why they would do this, but if the boys can hear my voice now, I want them to know that I love them and I wish them the best. Plus, I am surprised because they are still under contract with me. I love all of you and all of the fans out there. Please pray for B2K." The statement is actually longer than this, but the line about the contract creeps in at the end, a detail that, oh dear, must have slipped the minds of his erstwhile son-like clients. (Omarion, for his part, has retreated from initial upset at the walk-out, telling MTV News he'd like to "get back together" with the others, following his solo projects, because "I think people would enjoy it.") The tumult has certainly been immense for the famously enthusiastic B2K fans. This makes the film's rather weak representation of at least one source of tension -- Omarion getting all the attention -- something like the proverbial car wreck, simultaneously hard to see and hard to turn away from. At least the dance scenes supply their own, more potent, mini-dramas, so the rest of it becomes less salient.
Newsense I'll keep this review brief. This was easily the worst movie of 2004. Critics of critics might say that if you don't like this movie you cant dance and to that I respond: ain't no call like a booty call cause' a booty call don't call yo booty. That doesn't make sense right? Of course not and neither does your rebuttal to those that hate this movie so shut up! And now......the review. The whole thing is about two kids whose dance crew is challenged by some preppy wanna-be-black suburbanites who steal the crew's moves thanks to a treacherous friend named Sonny. Omarion and Marques's character fall out over Omarion dating Marques's sister and things get more problematic from then on. The acting is atrocious and the dance moves might be cool at first but get pretty mundane after a while. Omarion as well as Marques Houston cant act. Lil Kim looks like recovering heroine junkie and the attractive Jennifer Freeman(My Wife and Kids) is whiter than Jenny McCarthy. You can tell this was a vanity project for the suspiciously effeminate Chris Stokes. And it still bombed! If you're into a movie all about dancing then go right ahead but if you're looking for something more than a dull dance film with heavily edited dance scenes look elsewhere. You just got served suckaz!
Mohit Varma I must disagree with many of the other users' comments. I admit the storyline does lack a certain originality to it..however this film is based around urban dancing...and considering that...IT DELIVERS. I know many of my friends who are into this style of dancing and this film has been an inspiration to them. The acting is mediocre - nothing that special...the chirography is pure bliss and you really get into the mood of the movie! Something which also has to be mentioned is the music, excellent choices made taking the best from hip-hop. I do however, believe that this film is probably not for the older generation...more suited for younger urban young adults who have an interest in hip-hop etc. Don't knock it before you've seen it...well worth the hour or so...
heatherw24 I wish I'd read the reviews on here before I wasted 2 and a half hours of my life watching this film when it was on TV last week... Just thought I'd warn any other unsuspecting people, so that they don't make the same mistake I did! It's bad.... the acting is bad... the plot is bad/non-existent... the dancing is good, but then, that only makes up about 15 minutes of the movie, and the other 2 hours and 15 minutes is just painful! Don't do it! And I'm not just saying that because I'm the kind of person who only enjoys deep and meaningful movies... I wasn't expecting it to be an Oscar-deserving epic, but it's not even close to being watchable! Seriously, don't do it!
