Armageddon (2008) was a PPV presented by Ubisoft's Prince of Persia. It took place on December 14, 2008 at the HSBC Arena in Buffalo, New York. It featured professional wrestlers and other talent from all WWE's three brands: Raw, SmackDown and ECW. It was the ninth and final event within the Armageddon chronology. During the SmackDown main event, WWE Champion Edge defended the title against Triple H and Jeff Hardy in a Triple Threat match. The Raw main event featured the World Heavyweight Championship contested in a singles match between champion John Cena and Chris Jericho. The undercard featured several matches, including CM Punk against Rey Mysterio in the finals of a tournament to determine the number-one contender to the WWE Intercontinental Championship, and Randy Orton versus Batista in a standard wrestling match.

Reviews
StunnaKrypto Self-important, over-dramatic, uninspired.
Softwing Most undeservingly overhyped movie of all time??
Taraparain Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
kyle-mcdonald Well on the night of Armageddon I was really excited to see what would happen on the PPV and by the end of the night I was left speechless because of how good the PPV was. All the matches on the card followed a good storyline and all the matches were very well done but once again I was left disappointed by the divas match but sense the divas are hot I was not really paying any attention the match. So all I can say to you is that you to see this PPV because it is awesome.Match Ratings: Vladimir Koslov VS. Matt Hardy **** out of ***** CM Punk VS. Rey Mysterio ****1/2 out of ***** Finlay VS. jts0405 Armageddon 2008 from the HSBC Arena in Buffalo, New York was one of WWE's best of the year. It is a good note to end on in 2008 carrying us into the new Jeff Hardy era as WWE Champion in 2009.Match 1: Vladimir Kozlov vs. ECW Champion Matt Hardy (non title match) -Hardy really held his own against Kozlov in this match and proved to be worthy competition for Kozlov. It started pretty slow and kept a very steady slow pace, but turned out to be a decent opener. Kozlov hits his spine buster finisher in the end for the win possibly setting up an ECW title match in the future against Hardy.Match 2: CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio in the finals of the Intercotinental Championship Tournament - William Regal comes to ringside with Layla, making her hold his Intercotinental title, as he sits at this huge king's chair watching this match. The tournament was a cross branded tournament involving guys from Raw as well as ECW. Rey Mysterio defeated both The Miz and Kofi Kinston to get to Armageddon, while CM Punk defeated Snitsky and John Morrison. All in all this was a far candidate for Match of the Night for sure. This was the first match these two have ever had together and they tore the place down. Fantastic stuff from both of these incredible performers on Raw. Punk counters Mysterio with a G.T.S. in the end for the win. Regal applauds both men.Match 3: Finlay vs. Mark Henry (with Tony Atlas) in a Belfast Brawl - For the first time I believe this year ECW has got two whole matches on a Pay Per View. It started with Hardy vs. Kozlov, but also we have this match right here disputing one of ECW's highest feuds at the moment. Finlay tells Hornswoggle earlier on to stay in the back so he can take care of Henry on his own. Well it really didn't make a difference. This was an alright match, the only hardcore style match of the evening, but these two wouldn't be my kind of guys to carry something hardcore. Lots of weapon spots. Wasn't as good as the Belfast Brawl at Wrestlemania this year, but still worth a watch. Finlay defeats Mark Henry in the end.Match 4: Batista vs. Randy Orton (with Cody Rhodes and Manu) - After punting Ted DiBiase in the head Randy Orton has become sort of a group leader to both Rhodes and Manu. Earlier in the night they spoke for him during his interview saying that he will cement his legacy by beating Batista tonight. Well Batista enters first with a huge pop from the crowd as usual, then they wait a while and as soon as Orton's music plays he gets a huge pop as well even though he is a heel. Anyway Rhodes and Manu tried interference early on and the referee sends them back. Batista battles back on Orton and the two go back and forth for at least over ten minutes. This is honestly one of the better matches that these two have delivered over this year. In the end Batista hits Orton with a Batista Bomb for the win pretty much avenging his Survivor Series loss to Orton.Match 5: The Santa's Little Helper Diva Tag Team Match - The women were extremely hot, but as for wrestling, nothing special as usual from the women wrestlers. They did show a little more effort than in previous pay per view diva matches, but all in all pretty boring in the long run. The most entertaining part of this whole segment is when The Great Khali approaches the ring with Ranjin Singh holding the Khali Christmas Kiss Cam. He ends up making out with Mae Young, pretty much leaving the crowd in hysterics. The team of Michelle McCool, Mickie James, Maria and Kelly Kelly are the winners.Match 6: John Cena defends the World Heavyweight Championship against Chris Jericho - It was pretty solidly known by all the fans that Jericho is done for awhile with the World Championship. He held the title from Unforgiven to Cyber Sunday for a grand total of 49 days. Then went on to defeat Batista and hold the title till Survivor Series, that being 20 days. The guy really hasn't had astounding title reigns, but with him being the recent Raw champion it was pretty common that he would be defeated by Cena. It was a decent main event for Raw. Several good counters that made it more interesting. In the end Cena reverses the Walls of Jericho into an STFU to make Jericho tap for the win.Match 7: Edge vs. Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy in a Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship - I at first thought that Edge would retain and hold onto the title until Wrestlemania setting up an Edge vs. Jeff Hardy WWE title match at Wrestlemania 25. I have to admit I was wrong with this one. An extremely 5 star main event from these three. An awesome match at that. Nice spots, especially the announce table spear by Edge. Interference by Kozlov, which is intercepted by Matt Hardy. All in the end though Triple H hits a pedigree on Edge and when it looks like he has regained his WWE title Jeff Hardy hits a Swanton Bomb on Edge, knocking Triple H out of the way. Hardy makes the three count and wins his first World Title ever. Amazing night for Hardy at that. Finally Jeff Hardy is WWE Champion! Great pay per view.
