Baseshment I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
Curapedi I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
Walter Sloane Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.
Michael Ledo During a full moon with Mercury in retro, a group of young adults opt to go camping in the Black Hills of Garfield, Ohio. They meet hillbilly rednecks with a mentally handicapped son who kills women. And there is that voodoo thing which doesn't play much as a part as the title might suggest.Amateur film. Poorly scripted. Camp acting. Camera was like ABC sports, it covers it from every angle but a good one. This is a me-too slasher film. Even the sound was off at times.Guide: F-word. Implied sex. No nudity.
Leofwine_draca VOODOO RISING is the usual 'teens in the woods' horror outing, shot on video on Ohio this time around. Half of the short running time is over before anything even happens and until that point the viewer is stuck with lots of introductory footage and annoying characters hanging around in tents and the like. When the horror content does get featured, it's very tame and non-suspenseful with evil-doers lurking around and the like. There's some mild violence at the climax and that's it. Overall, VOODOO RISING is bland, derivative, and half-baked.
