mmyy Romantic comedies have been around for a long time and they all have the same ending but how they get there and whether you like the characters on the journey is what makes the movie good or not. This movie really takes an original path. And the characters are indeed very enjoyable. It's really a cinematic tour de force in that it almost all takes place in one elevator going up and down in a hotel over the course of a year and it must have been made on an incredibly low budget yet the movie itself is very entertaining. The script is good, the acting is good and the directing is good. For anyone who likes romantic comedies this is definitely a film to put on your list and if you are a film student or someone who is interested in film making this is a MUST SEE because these people made a really, really good movie for very very little money. The movie is now available on Amazon prime and it is definitely worth checking out.
J Smith For a low-budget indie, this is a great little film with moving performances and clever writing. I read the "bad" review and the critic's review on this site and have to say I think the critic's review is much more on target! Throughly enjoyed it - I laughed, I cried and found the whole experience more than positive! Tod Huntington is a star in the making - Julin was the perfect obscure object of desire. All the supporting roles were well-played and the basic premise of setting this young man's journey in the elevator, which he finally manages to break free from, was a nice twist! Again, as the critic's review said, this doesn't necessarily break any new ground, but it's a solid romantic comedy with interesting characters and the performances pull you in and make you care what happens -
Susy Gill I think the critic review on this site is much more helpful than the one above - although this is obviously a low-budget indie with no big stars, I found the performances to be fairly astonishing - I understand the lead actor was nominated for at least four best acting nominations on the film festival circuit and won BEST ACTOR at TexanDance, where the film also picked up BEST ROMANTIC COMEDY. The direction makes each new elevator event different and you begin to look forward to finding out who's getting on next! The film's website also lists four other festival wins and lots of nominations. Again, to dispute the review above, each of the subplots was developed neatly and wrapped up, even the one with the dog! The writing was clever and I really cared about the characters, who are the focus of the story. There are also two really moving songs thrown in, one written by the director. Overall, I thought it was solid on every level for this kind of production - and would recommend this charming film to anyone who likes romantic comedies with a dose of realism thrown in!
riantgorkette This is a horribly produced movie. I feel like this was a college project that some first year film student produced. It is painful to watch. The audio is all over the place. Elevator music and main actor's mic are too loud, you can't really hear what people on his headset are saying. The some key plot moments are rushed and yet there are scenes that don't lead to anything worthwhile but are dragged out. I will admit that the idea behind the movie is cute, and I really wish it had worked out better. They should have cast the characters better, maybe that would have helped. Even if they had added a few funny lines for the actors to work off of, maybe then the viewers could find something charming about the characters.
